Pudding & Ritz

MEET PUDDING AND RITZ!

This week’s shelter pets are Pudding and Ritz, two 10-month-old cats rescued from a cat hoarding situation and now up for adoption at the Smithtown Animal Shelter.

These two babies are best buds and prefer to go to a home together. Due to the large volume of cats in the home, they had very little human interaction. They are slowly learning to trust people, but remain very shy.  They are more brave when they are together! Pudding is a long hair black and white male. Ritz is a short haired orange tabby female. These lovelies would do best in a quiet home that has lots of love and patience to give!

They are spayed/neutered, microchipped and are up to date on their vaccines.

If you are interested in meeting Pudding and Ritz, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with them in a domestic setting, which includes a Meet and Greet Room.

The Smithtown Animal & Adoption Shelter is located at 410 Middle Country Road, Smithtown. Shelter operating hours are currently Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Sundays and Wednesday evenings by appointment only). For more information, call 631-360-7575 or visit www.smithtownanimalshelter.com.

Mia

MEET MIA – AGAIN!

This week’s shelter pet is Mia is a 3-year-old mastiff/pit/lab mix who is still waiting at the Smithtown Animal Shelter for her furever home.

Mia is stunningly beautiful, goofy and playful. Because she lacked proper socialization in her puppy years, she tends to distrust strangers.  She needs someone who is willing to give her time to trust; then you will be rewarded with kisses, cuddles and slobber. Once she trusts someone, it is forever.

Mia would be best suited as an only pet in an adult only home. She is spayed, microchipped and is up to date on her vaccines. If you are interested in meeting Mia please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with her in a domestic setting, which includes a Meet and Greet Room, the dog runs and a Dog Walk trail.

The Smithtown Animal & Adoption Shelter is located at 410 Middle Country Road, Smithtown. Shelter operating hours are currently Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Sundays and Wednesday evenings by appointment only). Call 631-360-7575 or visit www.smithtownanimalshelter.com.

She loves to get butt scratches and attention.  This sweet girl was left alone a lot in her last home, so she prefers a quiet environment and needs lots of love to make up for lost time! She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines.

Mia!

MEET MIA!

This week’s shelter pet is Mia, a loving and energetic two year-old Pit/Lab Mix currently waiting at the Smithtown Animal Shelter for her furever home.

Equal parts goofy and affectionate, Mia came to the shelter as a stray after being hit by a car and fortunately sustaining only minor injuries. She loves to whip around her rope toys and chase after balls and thinks she is a lap dog and will crawl in your lap and shower you with kisses.

Mia was a yard dog, so she is protective of her space when it comes to strangers, and she will require a home that can properly introduce her to new people. Once she meets a new friend, she loves them unconditionally. Mia would be best as the only pet in the home. She comes spayed, up to date on her vaccines and microchipped.

If you are interested in meeting Mia, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with her in a domestic setting, which includes a Meet and Greet Room, the dog runs, and a Dog Walk trail. Family Pet Meet and Greets and at home interactions are also welcome and an integral part of the adoption process.

The Smithtown Animal & Adoption Shelter is located at 410 Middle Country Road, Smithtown. Shelter operating hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the weekend. For more information, please call 631-360-7575 or visit www.smithtownanimalshelter.com.

Cookie

MEET COOKIE!

This week’s shelter pet is Cookie, a loving and happy 9-year-old pit bull mix. She adores every human she meets, can play for hours and gives the BEST snuggles.

Cookie

Cookie is very healthy and athletic. She needs a big yard where she can play fetch with her family. Sadly she has been in the shelter for over a year and doesn’t understand why she is overlooked time and time again. Do not be fooled by her age — Cookie has a young heart, mind and body and lives to please everyone she meets. She would be good with kids 8 and up, but must be the only pet in the home. She comes spayed, microchipped and is up to date on her vaccines.

If you are interested in meeting Cookie, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with her in the shelter’s Meet and Greet Room.

MEET ANGEL!

This week’s shelter pet is Angel, a 6-year-old Blue Nosed Pit Bull who has been waiting at the Smithtown Animal Shelter for her forever home for over 2 years. Angel adores people and FOOD!  She would be best suited to a breed savvy home where she can be the only pet and no children.

Angel is a loving, smart dog who enjoys splashing in the pool, exploring the outdoors and napping with her people. She is eager to please and comes spayed, microchipped and up to date on all her vaccines.

If you are interested in meeting Angel, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with her in the shelter’s Meet and Greet Room. Suzie

MEET CALI, ROCKY AND SUZIE!

Cali
Rocky

This week’s shelter pets, from left, Cali, Rocky and Suzie, are three buddies at the Smithtown Animal Shelter hoping to be adopted together.

All three pups, each twelve years old, came to the shelter after their owner sadly passed away. The Animal Shelter is looking for someone with a giant heart to Furrever Foster these wonderful dogs together. Cali is a Female Cattle Dog Mix, Rocky, a Male Shepherd Mix, and Suzie is a Female Border Collie Mix. The three siblings each have arthritis, and Suzie has some skin problems, but they do not let these issues stand in their way of playing and having fun with each other. These adorable loves are all very affectionate, and would do well in homes with other pets.

If you are interested in meeting Cali, Rocky, and Suzie, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with them in the shelter’s Meet and Greet Room. The Smithtown Animal & Adoption Shelter is located at 410 Middle Country Road, Smithtown. For more information, call 631-360-7575.

Sonic

MEET SONIC!

This week’s shelter pet is Sonic,  a 2-year-old female domestic shorthair waiting at the Smithtown Animal Shelter for her PURR-fect soulmate.

Sonic was found as a stray scavenging for scraps of food at a local Sonic restaurant. She can be very shy, but she also has a very sweet personality and is not aggressive at all. It will take some time and patience in order to get Sonic to open up, but it’ll be very worth it when she purrs for you as her stamp of approval! She would prefer to live in a quiet and calm household with a lot of love to give.

All of the felines at the shelter are current on vaccines and have received a full workup (blood work, Feline HIV & Leukemia tested, physical exam etc) by a board certified veterinarian.

If you are interested in meeting Sonic please fill out an adoption application online at www.townofsmithtownanimalshelter.com.
