Suffolk County Police arrested a Kings Park man on June 23 for stalking a Suffolk County legislator outside of his home last week.

Legislator Robert Trotta reported to police that between June 16 and June 18 a white 1989 Chevrolet pickup truck parked in the driveway of his Northport home on more than one occasion and revved its engine to intimidate him and his family. The incident was reported to police on June 19.

Following an investigation by Major Case Unit detectives, Joshua Smith was arrested today on Indian Head Road in Kings Park at approximately 5:45 p.m. Smith, 47, of Burr Ave., was charged with Stalking 4th Degree, a misdemeanor. He was released on a Desk Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.

When questioned, Trotta’s political opponent Smithtown Town Supervisor Ed Wehrheim said that the man was a friend of his daughter’s.

The man pictured above stole an Army Camo Green Big Flyer bicycle with green handlebars and black rubber hand grips from the Smithtown Library, located at 148 Smithtown Blvd., on June 17 at approximately 5:35 p.m. The bicycle was valued at $800.

Update: Suffolk County Police arrested a man on June 25 for allegedly promoting a fight club contest in Melville on June 22. Following an investigation by Second Precinct Investigation Unit officers, Joseph Cassese was charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration, Unlawful Assembly, Criminal Nuisance
and Disorderly Conduct. Cassese, 22, of East Northport, was released on a Desk Appearance Ticket and is
scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.

Suffolk County Police arrested two Northport men on June 22 for allegedly participating in an unauthorized fight club event in Melville.

In response to community complaints, Second Precinct Anti-Crime Unit and Second Precinct Investigative Unit officers investigated a fight club advertised on social media and arrested two participants at Walt Whitman Park, located at 2559 New York Ave., at approximately 4:30 p.m. There were approximately 70 people in attendance.

Finley McCloskey, 19, of Northport and Jake Zimilies, 19, of Northport, were charged with Unlawful Assembly. They were issued Desk Appearance Tickets and are scheduled to be arraigned at FirstDistrict Court in Central Islip on a later date.

Update: Suffolk County Police arrested a man on June 23 for killing a man in Brentwood on June 22. Homicide Squad detectives arrested Alex Reyes for killing Alexander Velasquez in a parking lot, located at 159 Clarke Street, at 4:40 a.m. Reyes, 21, of Brentwood, was charged with Murder 2nd Degree.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of man killed in Brentwood on June 22.

Police responded to a 911 call regarding an adult male lying on the ground in a parking lot, located at 159 Clarke Street, at 4:40 a.m. The man, identified as Alexander Velasquez, 46 of Central Islip, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said his death appears criminal in nature.

The Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the pair who stole from a Commack store in April.

Two men entered Harbor Freight, located at 116 Veterans Memorial Highway, on April 12 at 6:59 p.m. and allegedly stole a generator. The generator was valued at approximately $1,800.

Suffolk County Police arrested two employees on June 18 for allegedly selling cannabis products at an East Northport store.

In response to community complaints, Second Precinct Investigative Unit officers executed a search warrant at Oasis Smoke Shop, located at 38 Laurel Road and seized marijuana, THC marijuana vapes, large quantities of flavor vape products as well as a large quantity of THC products and more than $10,000 in cash.

Two employees of the store, Alexis Cruz and Juan Daniel Veliz Hernandez were arrested. Cruz, 22, of Huntington Station, was charged with alleged Sale of Cannabis without a License, three counts of Unlawful Sale of Cannabis and Criminal Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Degree. Juan Veliz Hernandez, 24, of East Northport, was charged with alleged Sale of Cannabis without a License, and Unlawful Sale of Cannabis.

The New York State Office of Cannabis Management sealed the business and changed the locks. The Town of Huntington issued 4 combined building and fire violations and is conducting an investigation into the business. NYS Office of Cannabis Management Enforcement Unit, Town of Huntington Ordinance Inspector and the Town of Huntington Fire Marshal assisted in the investigation. The two men were issued Desk Appearance Tickets and are scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on July 8.
