Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a crash that seriously injured two teens
in Commack on Jan. 9.

Alexander Wisniewski was driving a 2022 BMW M5 traveling northbound on Old Commack Road when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree on the driver’s side at 10:27 a.m. Wisniewski, 18, of Dix Hills, and the passenger in the vehicle, Haris Khan, 18, of Dix Hills, were transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.

Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a woman in East Moriches on Aug. 19.

Olivia Montgomery was driving a 2016 Dodge Ram onto Westbound Sunrise Highway, from the Exit 61 ramp, when she lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and overturned, ejecting her from the vehicle, at approximately 10:50 p.m.

Montgomery, 20, of Farmingville, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.

Suffolk County Police arrested a man on April 5 for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor
vehicle following a fatal crash in Brentwood.

Brandon Gillespie was at the wheel of a 2012 Jeep Liberty stopped in the right lane of eastbound Long
Island Expressway, east of Sagtikos Parkway, when the vehicle was rear-ended by a 2016 Ford box
truck at approximately 12:45 a.m. Gillespie, 36, of Smithtown was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The driver of the Ford, Taron Smith, was not injured. Smith, 31, of Patchogue was arrested and charged with alleged Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree. He was also issued multiple summonses for Federal Motor Carrier Safety violations. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.

Suffolk County Police arrested a Farmingville man for allegedly driving while ability impaired by drugs after he was involved in a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in Centereach on March 19.

Christopher Guzman was driving a 2022 Chevrolet pickup truck westbound on Middle Country Road, near Wood Road, when his vehicle struck the side of an eastbound 2011 Toyota Camry, driven by Virginia Molkentin at approximately 5 p.m. Guzman continued driving westbound and, a short distance away, the Chevrolet struck a westbound 2012 Ford Escape, driven by Stacy Carpenter.

Guzman, 39, of Farmingville, and Molkentin, 66, of Coram, were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Carpenter, 55, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Carpenter’s passenger, his nephew, Timothy Carpenter, 21, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Guzman was charged with allegedly Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. He is scheduled for arraignment at later date. The vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist in Islandia on March 17.

Michael Laskaris was driving a 2019 Hino box truck westbound on Veterans Memorial Highway at 7:35 a.m. when he attempted to make a U-turn at the intersection of East Suffolk Avenue in front of an eastbound 2005 Suzuki motorcycle operated by Joshua Taylor. Taylor hit the brakes and the motorcycle skidded on the
pavement causing the motorcyclist to be ejected.

Taylor, 20, of Islandia, was pronounced dead at the scene. Laskaris, 66, of Selden, was not injured. Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fourth

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Commack on Feb.27. Krista Mooney was driving a 2020 Volkswagen Atlas eastbound on Scholar Lane, at the intersection of Shaker Ridge Lane, when her vehicle struck a pedestrian at 6:10 p.m.

The pedestrian, Matthew Conte, 36, of Commack, was pronounced dead at the scene. Mooney, 31, of Commack, was transported to Saint Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown for evaluation. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.

Suffolk County Police on Feb. 19 arrested a man for allegedly driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle crash in West Babylon. 

Madison Cedeno was driving a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer eastbound on Sunrise Highway, at Hubbards Path, when the vehicle struck a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck at approximately 8:40 p.m. The Chevrolet overturned and came to rest on top of the guardrail. The Mercury struck the guardrail and the center median. 

Highway Patrol officers arrived at the scene and determined Cedeno was allegedly intoxicated. He was taken into custody and transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where he was treated for minor injuries and released. The driver of the Chevrolet, an adult male, was transported to the same hospital for treatment of minor injuries. 

Cedeno, 41, of Dix Hills, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a man in Holtsville on Jan. 14.

Christian Aviles was driving a 2017 Subaru Legacy westbound on the Long Island Expressway, ¼ mile east of Exit 61, when the vehicle struck the center divider at 4:08 a.m.  Aviles, 37, of Ridge, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Detectives believe Aviles may have suffered a medical event prior to the crash. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man after his vehicle crashed into a house in Center Moriches on Dec. 30.

William Zeliniski was driving a 2006 Ford medical transport van when the vehicle left the road and struck the side of 129 Frowein Road at 9:25 a.m. Zeliniski, 59, of Selden, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue where he was pronounced dead. The passenger in the van and the occupants in the house were not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.

Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a man
in Mount Sinai on Dec.30.

Joseph Berendowski Jr. was driving a 2007 Mazda pickup truck westbound on Canal Road when the vehicle left the roadway at Griffin Drive and crashed at 1:25 a.m. Berendowski, 33, of Mount Sinai was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
