Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that critically injured a pedestrian in Commack on July 11.

Dennis Mahoney was crossing the roadway northbound in front of 6079 Jericho Turnpike when he was struck by a westbound 2015 Subaru Crosstrek at approximately 11:15 p.m.

Mahoney, 55, of Commack, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Subaru, Christine Chancey, 61, of Northport, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a crash that killed a man in Hauppauge on July 7.

Stephan Tiarks was driving a 2011 Buick northbound on Wheeler Road when his vehicle collided with a 2016 Mazda sedan at the intersection with Motor Parkway. The Buick continued northbound and overturned into the parking lot of the BP gas station, located at 204 Wheeler Road

Tiarks, 58, of Saint James, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Mazda, Magda Ramotowska, 27, of Sayville, and a passenger in the Buick, Laura Donaghy, 61, of Saint James, were also transported to South Shore University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in Saint James in the morning hours of Saturday, May 14.

Robert Greene was driving a 2012 Ford Taurus eastbound on Middle Country Road when his vehicle struck a 2022 International tractor trailer backing in to an Acura dealership, located at 780 Middle Country Road, at approximately 3:35 a.m.

Greene, 33, of South Setauket, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer, Azeddine Fridjat, 57, of Enfield, Connecticut, was not injured.

The Ford was impounded for a safety check. The tractor trailer was inspected at the scene by officers from the Motor Carrier Safety Section.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.

Suffolk County Police 4th Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a bicyclist in Lake Grove July 23.

Brian Ferretti was driving a 2005 Toyota sedan eastbound on Middle Country Road at the intersection of New Moriches Road, when the vehicle collided with a male bicyclist, who was traveling southbound from New Moriches Road at 1:44 a.m.

The bicyclist, Peter Ferentinos, 61, of Nesconset, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Ferretti, 20, of Sayville, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call the 4th Squad at 631-854-8452.

Suffolk County Police today arrested the driver involved in a fatal motor vehicle crash in Wading River that killed a 90-year-old woman after the driver provided a false name to officers.

Following an investigation, detectives determined that Tara Demauro was the driver of the Jeep that struck a Nissan on Route 25A on October 14. Following the crash, Demauro provided officers with the name of her relative, Meghan Cunningham of Rocky Point, who was not involved.

Demauro, 48, of Rocky Point, was charged with Criminal Impersonation 2nd Degree,  Making a Punishable False Written Statement and Driving with a Suspended License. She was released on a desk appearance ticket and is due to appear at the First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.

Suffolk County Police 2nd Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Huntington Station early Thursday morning, Feb. 23.

Bibiana Flores Morales was crossing Depot Road at East 3rd Street when she was hit by a 2006 Ford tow truck traveling south on Depot Road at about 9:45 a.m. Flores Morales, 51, of Huntington Station, was transported with serious injuries to Huntington Hospital by Huntington Community Ambulance.  The tow truck driver, Scott Rumpel, 40, was not injured.

Motor Carrier Safety Section conducted an inspection on the tow truck, owned by HCM Marine Transport. Detectives are asking anyone about this crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
