Smithtown Animal Shelter

Chips

This week’s shelter pet is Chips (also fondly known as One-Eyed Jack), currently up for adoption at the Smithtown Animal Shelter. Loving and outgoing, Chips came from a home where he lived with kids and other animals. Chips had severe upper respiratory infections as a kitten that caused him to lose one eye and have significant scarring in the other. He will never see well, but that does not slow him down.

He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccines. If you are interested in meeting Chips, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with him in a domestic setting, which includes a Meet and Greet Room.

The Smithtown Animal & Adoption Shelter is located at 410 Middle Country Road, Smithtown. Shelter operating hours are currently Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Sundays and Wednesday evenings by appointment only). For more information, call 631-360-7575 or visit www.smithtownanimalshelter.com.

Yoo-Hoo

MEET YOO-HOO!

This week’s shelter pet is Yoo-Hoo, a gorgeous 10 to 12 year old domestic medium- haired Torti with stunning green eyes at the Smithtown Animal Shelter.

Yoo-Hoo is loving, laid back and outgoing. She has an overactive thyroid that is managed with a prescription diet and will need a home that can assure she only eats that food and nothing else. Yoo-Hoo gets along with other laid back animals that respect her space. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines.

If you are interested in meeting Yoo- Hoo, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with her in a domestic setting, which includes a Meet and Greet Room.

This week’s shelter pet is Randy, a domestic shorthair 8-year-old orange tabby male currently up for adoption at the Smithtown Animal Shelter. Randy was surrendered because he does not do well with children.  He loves to come up to and meet new people; he will rub up on your legs and give you a little squeak. Randy has lived with other cats, but would do best in an adult only, dog free home. He does have a spicy personality and plenty of sass to share. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on his vaccines and was declawed by his previous pet parent.

If you are interested in meeting Randy, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with him in a domestic setting, which includes a Meet and Greet Room.

This overly sweet and affectionate beauty was dumped in a feral cat colony. She needs a home that will cherish her and she will reward you tenfold with love and affection. A bit thin and a little matted, Yoo-Hoo also has an overactive thyroid.  This is not uncommon in cats. She will need a home that can handle medicating her twice a day and taking her for vet visits every 6 months.

She is spayed, microchipped and is up to date on her vaccines.

If you are interested in meeting Yoo-Hoo, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with her in the shelter’s Meet and Greet Room.

Chloe

MEET CHLOE AGAIN!

This week’s shelter pet is Cool Cat Chloe, a 4-year-old domestic short hair patiently waiting at the Smithtown Animal Shelter for her happily ever after home. Chloe has been featured before in the paper and we are hoping that the second time is the charm.

This beautiful girl is gentle and calm and has lived with other cats, small children and a small dog.  Chloe was surrendered because her family could not manage her seizure disorder. She needs someone who can medicate her twice daily (she is very good for her meds) and bring her to the vet twice a year for bloodwork to check her medication levels.

Chloe is an absolute mush and she loves to be petted and brushed. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines.

If you are interested in meeting Chloe, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with her in the shelter’s Meet and Greet Room. The Smithtown Animal & Adoption Shelter is located at 410 Middle Country Road, Smithtown. Operating hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the weekend. Parker

MEET PARKER!

This week’s shelter pet is Parker, an 8 to 9-year-old Chihuahua and COVID orphan currently waiting at the Smithtown Animal Shelter for his furever home.

Parker’s mom loved him very much and it shows. This little guy adores all people, cats and friendly dogs big and small. He was over-indulged by his prior owner and some bad habits developed. He has resource aggression and needs a home that is comfortable managing this, giving him strict rules and structure and a parent that understands he is 100% worth the effort.

Parker is adored by every person that meets him. Unlike most Chihuahuas, he loves meeting new people and going on adventures. This poor boy has been through the ringer and needs a family that won’t give up on him.

He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccines.

If you are interested in meeting Parker, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with him in the shelter’s Meet and Greet Room. The Smithtown Animal & Adoption Shelter is located at 410 Middle Country Road, Smithtown. For more information, please call 631-360-7575 or visit www.smithtownanimalshelter.com.

Tyson
Tyson

MEET TYSON!

This week’s shelter pet is sweet Tyson who arrived at the Smithtown Animal Shelter when his dad fell ill and could no longer care for him.

Tyson is young and energetic, he loves meeting new people and playing with any toy! He does not enjoy other animals and should be the only pet in the home.  Because of his energy level, he should only be with older children. He would love an active lifestyle or a big yard.

This handsome boy is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all his vaccines.

If you are interested in meeting Tyson, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with him in the shelter’s Meet and Greet Room. The Smithtown Animal & Adoption Shelter is located at 410 Middle Country Road, Smithtown. For more information, please call 631-360-7575 or visit www.smithtownanimalshelter.com.

MEET MIA!

This week’s shelter pet is Mia, a 2-year-old brindled beauty currently waiting at the Smithtown Animal Shelter for her knight in shining armor.

Mia is a lab/pit mix with a goofball spirit and a loving personality. Left to grow up as a yard dog, she did not receive the love and attention she deserved as a puppy and needs an experienced home where she can learn what it is to be a normal dog with a loving family. She is as playful and affectionate as they come and believes herself to be a 70 pound lap dog!

Mia is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all her vaccines.

If you are interested in meeting Mia, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with her in the shelter’s Meet and Greet Room. The Smithtown Animal & Adoption Shelter is located at 410 Middle Country Road, Smithtown. For more information, please call 631-360-7575 or visit www.smithtownanimalshelter.com.

Ducky

MEET DUCKY!

This week’s shelter pet is Ducky, a male domestic short hair mix who is estimated to be around one year old. This black beauty was brought to the Smithtown Animal shelter as a stray by a good Samaritan and he’s ready to live in a purr-manent home where he can be the king of the house.

Ducky is initially a shy fella, but once given a bit of affection, he’ll nudge your hand and ask for more! This sweet cat deserves a quiet home without any children or dogs and a loving furrever family that will help him come out of his shell. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all his vaccines.

If you are interested in meeting Ducky, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with him in the shelter’s Meet and Greet Room.
