Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Fourth Precinct Crime Section officers are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate a man who allegedly stole merchandise from a Commack store last month.

A man allegedly stole two Hoverboards from Target, located at 98 Veterans Memorial Highway, on December 15 at approximately 11 a.m. The items were valued at $369.

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously
injured a teenager driving an electric motor bike in Saint James on Jan. 5.

Matthew McQuillan was driving a 2019 Infiniti QX6 eastbound on Middle Country Road when he attempted to make a left turn into a business and struck a Sur-Ron electric motor bike being operated by Myles Cotten, who was on the shoulder traveling westbound on Middle Country Road at 3:34 p.m.

Cotten, and his passenger Jack Schouten, who were not wearing helmets were thrown from the motor bike. Cotten, 13, of Saint James, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition. Schouten, 14, of Smithtown, was also transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. McQuillan, 24, was not injured.

The vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call
the Fourth Squad at 631-852-8752.

Suffolk County Police on Jan. 5 arrested a man for allegedly driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured his passenger in Terryville.

Marcio Sanchez-Padilla was driving a northbound 2005 Nissan Altima when he lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and struck a parked vehicle and a fence in front of 9 Half Mile Road, at 11:38 p.m.

Sanchez-Padilla’s front-seat passenger, Walter Rodriguez, 40, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Sanchez-Padilla, 29, was transported to the same hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He will be arraigned on a later date.

The Nissan was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a crash that critically injured a pedestrian in Central Islip on Jan. 5.

Philip Reddy was driving a 2016 Chevrolet northbound on Connetquot Avenue, near Atlantic Street, when his vehicle struck Richard Mateo, who was walking south on Connetquot Avenue at approximately 6:20 a.m. Mateo, 47, who is homeless, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore in serious condition. Reddy, 39, of Bay Shore, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.

A man allegedly stole a microwave and power tools with a combined value of $1,764 from Lowe’s, located at 1461 Old Country Road, on December 15 at approximately 1:50 p.m.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found following a Melville house fire on Dec. 26.

A 911 caller reported a fire at 109 Wilmington Drive at approximately 4:40 a.m. After the fire was extinguished, a man’s body was found in the home. The man’s identity and cause of death will be determined during an autopsy by personnel from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

Following a preliminary investigation, detectives believe the cause of the fire to be non-criminal in nature.

A vehicle hit a pedestrian in front of 2 East Main Street, Kings Park, on December 16 at 10 p.m. The police believe the vehicle is a blue Mazda.

Three women, using distraction techniques, allegedly stole a wallet containing credit cards from a person at Five Below, located at 108 Veterans Memorial Highway on September 29. The credit cards were used at a Target in Commack later that day.
