Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Central Islip on April 6.

Stacy Worlds was walking westbound across Carleton Avenue, between Earle Street and Elmore Street, when she was struck by a 2008 Hyundai Sonata traveling southbound on Carleton Avenue at approximately 9 p.m. World, 51, of Central Islip, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of Hyundai, Jose Claros, 59, of Bay Shore, was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.

Suffolk County Police arrested a man on April 5 for drag racing in West Babylon.

First Precinct Crime Section officers responded to multiple calls of vehicles and motorcycles drag racing
in West Babylon, at approximately 10 p.m. Officers observed several vehicles shutting down a section
of roadway to traffic on Edison Avenue at Dale Street, allowing a motorcyclist to drag race and do
burnouts in the roadway. After observing the unlawful stunt behavior, officers took the motorcycle
operator into custody without incident.

Antonino Mangogna, 30, of Manorville, was charged with alleged Unlawful Stunt Behavior, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, and several vehicle and traffic law violations. The motorcycle was impounded.

Mangogna was issued a desk appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear at First District Court in
Central Islip on a later date.

Suffolk County Police arrested a man on April 5 for allegedly exchanging child sexual abuse material through the Internet.

Following an investigation, detectives from the Digital Forensics Unit, along with officers from the Suffolk County Police Canine Section and Seventh Precinct, and agents from Homeland Security executed a search warrant at home of Brian Kazmierowski in Middle Island on March 28.

Detectives arrested Kazmierowski at his home at 6:15 p.m. on April 5 for allegedly exchanging material using a peer-to-peer file sharing system.

Kazmierowski, 35, was charged with Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, a Class E Felony and Promoting the Sexual Performance by a Child, a Class D Felony.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Digital Forensics Unit at (631) 852-6279.

Suffolk County Police arrested a man after he allegedly struck a police officer with his vehicle in Bohemia
and exchanged gunfire with police during a pursuit on April 4.

During a confidential investigation in Bohemia, detectives attempted to arrest Brandon Scanlon. The
suspect fled in a minivan striking a police officer and knocking him to the ground. Officers pursued the
suspect from Bohemia, through Brentwood to Bay Shore. Exchanges of gunfire occurred during the
pursuit.

The minivan crashed into a tree on North Sunrise Highway Service Road, east of Robert Moses Causeway, at approximately 7:20 p.m. Scanlon, sustained a gunshot wound, that occurred while exchanging gunfire with the officers during the pursuit. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Five officers were also transported to the hospital for evaluation.

A ghost gun was recovered from the vehicle. Scanlon, 33, of Middle Island, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and Assault 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned at a later date.

Suffolk County Police arrested a woman in Shirley on April 3 for driving with 52 license suspensions.

A Highway Patrol officer initiated a traffic stop on eastbound Sunrise Highway at Exit 58 after Kaylyn Snyder was observed driving a 2012 Jeep Liberty that did not have a rear license plate at approximately 1 a.m. Upon further investigation, it was determined Snyder has 52 license suspensions that were issued on 13 dates.

Snyder, 37, of Shirley, was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of aMotor Vehicle 1st Degree, a felony. She will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date. The Jeep was impounded.
