Just released! Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate a woman who allegedly used stolen credit cards at a Stony Brook store in January.

A woman reported her credit card was stolen on January 26 while at a Stony Brook Road medical practice. The card was used a short time later to purchase gift cards from Duane Reade on Stony Brook Road in Stony Brook.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest. Just released! Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Fourth Precinct Crime Section officers are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate three individuals who allegedly stole from a Hauppauge business in February. 

Three unknown people allegedly stole wooden pallets from the parking lot of Innovative Video Technology, located at 355 Oser Ave., at 11:30 p.m. on February 17.

Suffolk County Police arrested a Flushing woman on April 11 for alleged prostitution during a massage parlor raid in Melville.

In response to community and quality of life complaints, Second Precinct Crime Section officers and Second Squad detectives, in conjunction with officials from the Town of Huntington, conducted an investigation into Lucky 8 Foot Spa, located at 704 Walt Whitman Road, at 3:29 p.m.

Following an investigation, Rui Liu, 44, of 3445 Leavitt St., Flushing, was arrested and charged with two counts of alleged Prostitution, two counts of alleged Unauthorized Practice of a Profession and Criminal Nuisance 2nd Degree. Liu was released on a Desk Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on May 1.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Suffolk County Police arrested a Flushing woman on April 11 for alleged unlawful practice of a profession during a massage parlor raid in Port Jefferson Station.

In response to community complaints, Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives and Crime Section officers, in conjunction with the Town of Brookhaven Building Inspector, Town Fire Marshal and Town Investigator, conducted an investigation into an unnamed spa located at 10 Medical Drive, Suite D, in Port Jefferson Station at 3:17 p.m.

Following an investigation, Shidi Zhang, 37, of 3508 146TH St., Flushing, was arrested and charged with alleged Unauthorized Practice of a Profession, a felony. Several violations were also issued by Brookhaven Town. Zhang was released on a Desk Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Suffolk County Police arrested four people on April 6 for allegedly selling vape products to persons under-21 during compliance checks at businesses in the Second Precinct.

In response to numerous community complaints, Second Precinct Crime Section officers conducted an investigation into the sale of vape products, during which 16 businesses were checked for compliance with the law. During the investigation, four businesses were found to be selling e-nicotine products and/or cannabis to minors.

The following people were arrested and issued Field Appearance Tickets:

• Isaiah Ortiz, 21, of Deer Park, an employee of Cloud Empire, located at 108 Broadway,
Greenlawn, charged with alleged Selling Tobacco to a Minor.

• Anhya Jenkins, 22, of Central Islip, an employee of Venom Smoke Shop II, located at 6160
Jericho Turnpike, Commack, charged with alleged Selling Tobacco to a Minor.

• Gaurang Upadhyay, 55, of Rocky Point, an employee of Gary’s Smoke Shop, located at 6318
Jericho Turnpike Commack, charged with alleged Selling Tobacco to a Minor, and Unlawful Sale of
Cannabis.

• Nader Ilyas 27, of Dix Hills, an employee of Nirvana Vape Shop, located at 1153A East Jericho
Turnpike, Huntington, charged with alleged Selling Tobacco to a Minor, and Unlawful Sale of Cannabis.

They are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in First District Court on April 26.

Suffolk County Police arrested two women on April 6 for alleged prostitution and unlicensed massage during a raid at a massage parlor in Huntington Station.

In response to numerous community complaints, Suffolk County Police Second Precinct Crime Section officers conducted an investigation at Sunny Spa, located at 825 East Jericho Turnpike, at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Jing Qiao, 39, of Flushing and Xuan Yang, 43, of Roslyn Heights were charged with alleged Prostitution and Unauthorized Practice of a Profession. They are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court at a later date.

A man allegedly stole clothing from Burlington, located at 2280 North Ocean Avenue, on March 16 at 12:45 p.m.

Suffolk County Police arrested a man on April 5 for allegedly stealing cooking oil from a fast food restaurant in Huntington Station multiple times this year. Second Precinct Crime Section officers have been investigating multiple thefts of cooking oil from Chick-fil-A, located at 200 Jericho Turnpike since January, 2023. The suspect allegedly siphoned oil into a rented truck, and then resold the oil.

After an investigation, police arrested Hector Castrol-Espinal for allegedly stealing cooking oil from the store on January 24, January 31, February 10, February 18, and March 23. Castrol-Espinal, 23, of 8617 88th Ave., Woodside, New York, was charged with five counts of Petit Larceny. He was issued a Desk Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.

Police believe more businesses have been targeted. If anyone believes they have been a victim of this crime, to make a police report, by calling 631-852-COPS.

Suffolk County Police arrested a man on April 5 for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor
vehicle following a fatal crash in Brentwood.

Brandon Gillespie was at the wheel of a 2012 Jeep Liberty stopped in the right lane of eastbound Long
Island Expressway, east of Sagtikos Parkway, when the vehicle was rear-ended by a 2016 Ford box
truck at approximately 12:45 a.m. Gillespie, 36, of Smithtown was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The driver of the Ford, Taron Smith, was not injured. Smith, 31, of Patchogue was arrested and charged with alleged Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree. He was also issued multiple summonses for Federal Motor Carrier Safety violations. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
