Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man and woman who allegedly stole from a store inside the Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove last month.

A man and woman entered Macy’s and allegedly stole 15 pairs of sunglasses from the Sunglass Hut kiosk inside Macy’s on December 21, 2024 at approximately 1:40 p.m. The glasses were valued at approximately $5,940.

Update: Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives on Dec. 30 arrested a 15-year-old male for stabbing a
16-year-old male at Smith Haven Mall last month. The 15-year-old, of Lake Ronkonkoma, whose identity is being withheld due to his age, was charged with Assault 1st Degree, a felony, and Assault 3rd Degree, a misdemeanor. He is scheduled to appear in the Youth Part at First District Court in Central Islip on Dec. 31.

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a stabbing that injured a teenager on Nov. 23 in Lake Grove.

A 16-year-old male was stabbed when he attempted to intervene in a dispute between a small group of
people on the sidewalk outside of the food court at the Smith Haven Mall, located at 1 Smith Haven Mall, at approximately 7:55 p.m.

The stabbing victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Another 16-year-old male was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries sustained during the altercation.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.

The circus is back in town but this time the adults will have all the fun.

Paranormal Cirque III arrives at the Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove from August 1 to 4 featuring a brand new show for mature audiences.

The circus will once again be under the big tent in the mall’s parking lot.

According to the press release, the show is not for the faint of heart, featuring “Acrobats of the Air, Illusionists, freaks, mysterious creatures and all the elements that make one think of a “normal” Circus but that of normal has very little,” all under a black and red Clown Castle tent.

A combination of theater, circus and cabaret with a European flare and spine-tingling soundtrack, the new show has “breathtaking implications always poised between fun and the most uninhibited fear that will transport you to a dark world inhabited by creatures with incredible circus art abilities. A crazy yet fun fusion between Circus, theatre, and cabaret in perfect harmony with the evolution of a show that brings you back to when we dream … and when we had nightmares and fantasies. Scare, encompass, amuse and surprise are the ingredients for a mixture of emotions impossible to forget. This is truly a Paranormal experience like no other,” read the release.

The innovative horror story features different shades of sexy and an incomparable storyline, the press release explains. Audiences can fall into a parallel world and end up surrounded by monstrous creatures with hidden talents with the circus arts. A few of the circus arts on display in this new production include the Wheel of Death, mystifying MAGIC, and more.

Tickets range from $20 to $60 depending on availability. No one under age 13 will be admitted to the show. Guests aged 13 – 17 must be accompanied by an adult. This show has adult language and material.

The box office opens on-site on Tuesday the week of the show. Box office hours on non-show days is 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and on show days, 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

Shows are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Saturday, and 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. To order, click here or visit www.paranormalcirque.com.

A woman reported to police that she left her credit card at a store in Smith Haven Mall on December 28.  A short time later, a man and woman allegedly used the credit card at multiple businesses within the mall and charged more than $1,000 in purchases.

The latest addition to the Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove, a vegan, cruelty-free store named Devoshion, celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Feb. 1. 

Owners Mor Schwartz and Jason McKee were joined by Barbara Franco, Executive Director of the Smithtown Chamber of Commerce, Jennifer Scully of Vegan Home New York, and John and Juliana Di Leonardo of Humane Long Island. 

Devoshion, blending “Devotion” and “Fashion,” advocates compassion through its range of vegan and plant-based products. It serves as an indoor craft fair, showcasing local artists and functioning as a gallery for functional art. It is also a venue for live events like comedy shows, live music, Karaoke Nights, DIY workshops, yoga classes, and more. Customers can  hang out, eat vegan food, try local craft beer, and buy and sell collectibles, comics, action figures and specialized toys. 

All items in Devoshion are vegan and cruelty-free, and the proceeds of select items, including sloth, kangaroo, and capybara plushies, are donated to Humane Long Island. In addition, in celebration of its grand opening, all of the proceeds from select plushies and a portion of all vegan candy sales up until Valentine’s Day will benefit Humane Long Island’s work to help animals on Long Island.
