This handsome, black-and-white male, labrador mix at the Smithtown Animal Shelter is approximately four years old. Lucky is a golden nugget of joy in search of his four-leaf clover. Sadly, luck was not on his side when he was abandoned by the people who adopted him due to a change in their living situation. Despite his heartbreak, Lucky remains incredibly sweet, loving, and playful. The dedicated team at the Animal Shelter exclaims that this good boy is the most outgoing, friendly pup who loves meeting new people. To say that Lucky is a social butterfly would be an understatement.

Lucky has so much love to give, is full of energy, and can be adopted to a home with children, and likely other pets. He has a penchant for escape, so this is something that his future family will need to keep in mind. Lucky is an absolute crowd-pleasing delight, who would make a wonderful addition to a household looking for a fun-loving companion.

MEET KAI!

This week’s shelter pet is Kai,  a Bully/Poodle/Terrier mix still waiting to be adopted from the Smithtown Animal  & Adoption Shelter since arriving  in February of this year.

Estimated to be about two years old, Kai is one adorably unique looking dude! At 55 pounds, he is love and fun all of the time but was denied proper training and socializing and nees a patient family that will show him love and give him the time he’s been denight. He would do best in a home with older children. To meet him is to fall in love!

Joy and Envy

MEET JOY AND ENVY!

This week’s featured shelter pets are Joy and Envy, available for adoption at the Smithtown Animal Shelter. These charming, all-black, domestic short-haired, females are only nine months old. When these  sisters arrived at the shelter as teeny baby kittens, they were both incredibly timid and shy. After receiving lots of TLC from the team at the shelter, these two have blossomed into affectionate, lovable little ladies ready to find their forever family.

Joy and Envy’s warm and loving nature is evident to anyone fortunate enough to make their acquaintance. Aside from being absolutely gorgeous, these two are extremely sweet and playful. Expect a double dose of purring, lap naps and snuggles while in the company of these fabulous fur babies. These sisters will entertain themselves for hours with a supply of kitty toys, providing one lucky family with an unlimited amount of laughter and amusement. Joy and Envy would thrive in most homes, including a family with other cats, calm dogs, and older children. They are sisters who have never been separated and would do best if adopted together.

MEET JOHNNY AND JUNE!

This week’s shelter pets are  the inseparable pair of Johnny Cash and June Carter, available for adoption at the Smithtown Animal Shelter!

Johnny (male) and June (female) sport matching red and brown coats and are approximately four years old. They are both pint-sized meatballs, about the same size as a bulldog.

Their introductions to the public began when they were found wandering in Kings Park. It quickly became clear that this exquisite pair had been used for breeding purposes and later carelessly discarded. Despite their misfortune, Johnny and June are two incredibly sweet, loveable house hippos! They enjoy tons of attention and never miss an opportunity to shine in the spotlight. This stunning duo deserves nothing short of finding a great family to show them what a fairytale ending really looks like.

These two have been through a lot together and adore each other. The team at the shelter would be thrilled if they could live happily ever after together however, under the right circumstances they can be separated.

While June could possibly be placed in a home with other dogs, the only one for Johnny is June. They both would do well with children over the age of ten. They are young and healthy, however June has heat intolerance which needs to be managed.

MEET ADELE!

This week’s featured shelter pet is Adele, a sweet and petite, all black, domestic, short-haired girl up for adoption at the Smithtown Animal Shelter. 

Adele, who is approximately one year old, was found as a stray and brought to the shelter with her litter of newborn kittens. She was a wonderful mother who took excellent care of her babies. Now that they are completely weaned, Adele is ready to become a cherished family member where she can find endless joy, love and happiness. 

In addition to her bewitching beauty, Adele is incredibly charming, playful and a bit of a flirt if we’re being honest. She is famous around the shelter for serenading those who make her acquaintance, as she is extraordinarily vocal, and it’s absolutely adorable! This little lady is very comfortable in the spotlight and enjoys interacting with her audience. However, the most endearing quality this superstar possesses is her ability to make those around her feel loved, special, and appreciated. This girl has an unlimited supply of love and affection to give one very lucky family.

Adele is healthy and will likely do well in a home with children and pets.

This week’s shelter pet is Esme, a beautiful domestic short-haired, ten-month-old girl who adorns a stunning gray tuxedo coat. This sweet baby girl had thought she found a forever home months back, only to be returned due to an unexpected change in her family’s living situation. Despite this gut wrenching turn of events, Esme and the team at the shelter are hopeful that her chance at being a cherished forever family member will arrive before her first birthday.

At first she may seem a little shy or reserved when making Esme’s acquaintance.  However, with a little time and patience Esme will warm up to new faces with endless affection and purrs. This exquisite young lady is simply irresistible to any kitten-loving human and would bring a lifetime of joy and memories to one lucky family. Caretakers believe that Esme would be best suited in a home with older children, possibly cats and dogs.

This week’s shelter pet is Wilson, a dapper domestic short-haired male, adorning a black and white tuxedo coat, available for adoption at the Smithtown Animal Shelter. When this sweet gentleman arrived at the shelter caretakers believed there was a chance someone would claim him, but sadly no one did. Upon making his acquaintance, you will quickly learn Wilson has a magical way of making everyone feel special.

Estimated to be about seven years old, Wilson appreciates every moment of affection and attention and repays you by cozying up ever so closely with the serenade of his gentle purr. Wilson is a social fella who likes to be seen. He is incredibly outgoing and never turns down the opportunity to greet a new friend. Wilson’s amazing personality coupled with his distinguished good looks will bring endless joy to a lucky family’s heart and home. Wilson would do well in most homes including those with kids, other cats, and possibly dogs.

MEET HOCUS AND POCUS!

This week’s featured shelter pets are Hocus and her sister, Pocus who were adopted from the Smithtown Animal Shelter as kittens. They are affectionate, playful and loving.

They lived in a home with another cat, a large dog and a 5-year-old child. Two years later, they ended up back at the shelter when their tiny human developed allergies to them. These sisters have always been together and the shelter staff want to keep it that way. Adopt Pepé Le Pew!

Meet Pepé Le Pew, a charming pint sized two year old, black & white, male boxer mix up for adoption at the Smithtown Animal Shelter. Pepé is small in stature for his breed, but his ability to capture the hearts of dog loving humans is tremendous. This sweet boy was found as a stray, and sadly never claimed.
Upon arriving at the shelter Pepé was initially shy, but once he realized that he was in a safe and friendly environment he began to show what an affectionate and loving pup he truly is. He has the most irresistible and gentle way of leaning up against one’s leg while gazing into your eyes as gentle persuasion for attention and play time in kind. This young and beautiful boy has a lifetime of unconditional love, laughter and memories to give one lucky family. Pepé would thrive in a home with children over the age of ten, doggy siblings, and possibly cats.
Name note: When Pepé Le Pew was found, he had the distinct odor of being recently “skunked” as in sprayed by a skunk. Coupled with his tuxedo coloring and flirtatious nature the team at the shelter named him after the Looney Toons animated cartoon character.
