A multivehicle crash involving a Suffolk County police vehicle on May 16 in Farmingville left four people injured, according to a press release.

Responding to a call with its lights and sirens activated, a police vehicle was traveling westbound on Horseblock Road in Farmingville, when a vehicle attempted to turn right at the intersection of Old Medford Avenue and the vehicles crashed on May 16 at 5:08 p.m. The civilian vehicle then crashed into a pole and another vehicle. Debris from the crash struck a fourth vehicle, shattering a window and damaging the hood.

Drivers of all four vehicles were transported to local hospitals for treatment of injuries. Their identities were not released.

Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a
pedestrian in Farmingville on Feb. 5.

Steven Godden was driving a 2022 Mercedes-Benz northbound on North Ocean Avenue at Granny Road
when he swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting Roland Degroff, who was running east across the
roadway at the intersection against the direction of traffic control devices at 7:40 p.m. The Mercedes
struck Degroff, who was then struck by a 2021 Hyundai Sonata being operated by Yair Pacheco.

Degroff, 58, of Port Jefferson Station, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue
where he was pronounced dead. Neither Godden, 41, of Mount Sinai, or Pacheco, 44, of Coram, or two
passengers in the Mercedes-Benz, were injured.

The vehicles were both impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on
the crash to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.

Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that critically injured a woman in Farmingville on Dec. 17. Gilma Liceth-Perez was driving a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta southbound on Leeds Boulevard, making a left turn onto Portion Road, when her vehicle was struck by a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe traveling westbound on Portion Road at 1:56 p.m.

Liceth-Perez, 45, of Patchogue, was transported by the Farmingville Fire Department to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was listed in critical condition. Her passenger, Dayanara Perez-Reyes, 19, of Patchogue, and the driver of the Hyundai, Emma Vilmenay, 20, of Babylon, were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The vehicles were impounded for safety checks.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
