MEET AMBER!

This week’s shelter pet is Amber, a 4-year-old Shepherd mix who came to Kent Animal Shelter from Texas with two of her pups. Her pups have since found their forever homes — now it’s Amber’s turn!  Amber is a super sweet girl and loves all the attention she can get. She’s great with kids and loves belly rubs too! Amber also loves to eat, so pick up a bag of treats and come on down to visit her. She comes spayed, microchipped and is up to date on all her vaccines.

MEET RAPUNZEL!

Just look at those beautiful brown eyes! This is Rapunzel, an adorable 2½-month-old Catahoula/hound mix from South Carolina, now waiting for a furever home at Kent Animal Shelter. How is it that this gorgeous gal couldn’t find herself a home down south? No worries, Rapunzel — New Yorkers are going to be fighting over you! Rapunzel has already spent some time with cats and would do well sharing a home with them. She is also spayed, microchipped and up to date on all her vaccines. Will you be her Valentine?

MEET GIADA!

Just look at those cute ears! Sweet little Giada came to Kent all the way from the Bahamas where these dogs, known as potcakes, don’t have it so great. This mixed-breed sweetie is only 7 months old and can’t wait to grow up with a loving family of her own. She is keeping her paws crossed that you will come see her right away! Riley

MEET RILEY! Currently available for adoption at Kent Animal Shelter is Riley! What a story this dog could tell if only he could talk. This supersweet 2-year-old Shepherd/Lab mix was rescued in Texas where things weren’t so good. Now he’s ready to leave the past behind him and start over in New York.

Once he knows you, he just loves you and won’t leave your side. Due to his hard life in Texas, he does have an old injury to one of his hind legs that is not able to be fixed. However, he still LOVES to go for short little walks. All Riley wants is a home where he will be loved and cared for — is that too much to ask?

MEET SAMMY! This is Sammy, a 4-year-old foxhound currently waiting at Kent Animal Shelter for his forever home. Sammy is a happy guy and would make an awesome family dog. Weighing in at 87 pounds, he used to be a hunting dog. He wouldn’t stay with the pack during the hunt so he was turned in for adoption. MEET CHIP! Chip is an 8-month-old domestic short-haired female who has the best personality and loves to be around people. She has a sweet and playful nature, so she would be good in any home. Chip is very loving and purrs almost instantly when you pet her. She is up to date on all her shots, spayed and microchipped. Also she is free for the month of December! MEET BLOSSOM! This beautiful girl is Blossom, a 1½-year-old, domestic short hair tabby cat. Blossom was abandoned on the steps of Kent Animal Shelter’s clinic recently, along with her four kittens. All of the babies have been adopted into loving homes. Now it’s Blossom’s turn! This sweetheart would do best in a quiet home and needs to be the only cat. She is spayed, up to date with her vaccines, microchipped and has tested negative for feline AIDS and leukemia. Adoption fees are waived for all cats during the month of December! MEET ZARA! What a beautiful name this little girl has! Meaning ‘princess’ in Russian and ‘star’ or ‘flower’ in Arabic, Zara is a 2-year-old Chihuahua mix who was just rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas and is safe now at Kent Animal Shelter. Although she’s only been there a short time, she is a favorite among the volunteers who have fallen in love with her sweet and friendly disposition and her beautiful brown eyes. By the time she is adopted, Zara will be spayed, microchipped and up to date on all her vaccines. Wouldn’t she be a lovely addition to your family for the holidays?
