A man allegedly stole allergy medication from Target, located at 2975 Horseblock Road, on June 18 at approximately 12:30 p.m. The medication was valued at more than $1,800. He fled in a silver sedan.

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a three-vehicle crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist in West Islip on July 12.

Dominic Dentici was operating his 2000 Yamaha eastbound on Sunrise Highway between Higbie Lane and Udall Road when he lost control of the motorcycle and struck the rear of a 2023 Tesla, causing him to be ejected from the motorcycle, at 4:17 p.m. Keith Ward was operating his 1994 Harley-Davidson eastbound behind the Tesla. Ward lost control of the motorcycle in an effort to avoid the crash and struck the rear of the Tesla.

Dentici, 31, of Ronkonkoma, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the Tesla, Ashish Kaushal, 37, of Lindenhurst, was also transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Ward, 48, of Island Park, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

James Shurman

Update on July 11: James Shurman has been located, unharmed.

Suffolk County Police have issued a Silver Alert for a missing Centereach man who suffers from psychiatric disorders.

James Shurman, 35, was last seen leaving his home, located at 54 Park St., at approximately 4 a.m. on June 28 in a gray 2015 Chrysler 200 with NY license plate KRP 8819. Shurman was reported missing by family on June 30 at 10:55 a.m. He is believed to be suicidal and off his medication.

Shurman is white, 5 feet 8 inches tall, and 225 pounds. He has red hair and hazel eyes.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on Shurman’s location to call 911 or Sixth Squad detectives at 631-854-8652.

Silver Alert is a program implemented in Suffolk County that allows local law enforcement to share information with media outlets about individuals with special needs who have been reported missing.

Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously
injured a motorist in Medford on July 10.

Leonel Ventura Jr. was operating a motorized Varla scooter northbound on the sidewalk of Route 112 when he collided with the passenger side of an idling 2021 Dodge Durango that was attempting to make a right turn out of Speedway Gas, located at 2012 Route 112, at 5:29 p.m. Ventura, 19, of Brentwood, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious physical injuries. The driver of the Dodge Durango, Keron Simmons, 37, of Coram, was not injured.

A woman reported credit cards were stolen from a 2023 Hyundai parked in a parking lot on Landing Avenue in Smithtown on June 12 at 5:12 p.m. The credit cards were used by two men that same day at Target, located at 98 Veterans Memorial Highway in Commack, and Walmart, located at 85 Crooked Hill Road in Commack.
