It was all Cody Miller for Rocky-Point in the Eagles homecoming victory over Amityville where the senior rushed for three touchdowns and connected with senior wide receiver A.J. Walker through the air for two more.

Miller hit Walker on a 62-yard pass play and 51-yarder in the Eagles 34-22 victory Sept. 25. Walker covered 119 yards on three catches in the Div III matchup. The win lifts the Eagles to 2-1 while Amityville drops to 1-3.

The Eagles retake the field Oct. 1 where they’ll host Kings Park with a 6 p.m. start.

It was Rocky Point quarterback Cody Miller who provided the spark for the Eagles in a League VI matchup at home where the senior found the endzone three times, one of which was an interception for a 73-yard return. But it was Kings Park running back Nico Laviano who countered with a pair of short yardage runs and a 29 yarder for the 42-31 victory April 3.

Kings Park quarterback Jonathan Borkowski, a junior, found the endzone twice, and Scott McConville, a sophomore, punched in for the opening score on a five-yard run.

Rocky Point senior Charles Gerace covered 62 yards on a pass reception from Miller, and teammate Devin Cline scored from 10 yards out.

The loss drops the Eagles to 1-2 in their division, and the Kingsmen notched their first win (1-2) of this COVID-shortened season.

The Eagles retake the field April 10 in a road game against Harborfields at 1 p.m. Kings Park is back in action at home April 9 against Hills West with a 6 p.m. start.

The Rocky Point School District came together under sunny skies to celebrate homecoming 2018 during the last weekend in September. Eagle fans of all ages lined the sidewalk in front of Rocky Point High School to cheer on those marching in the annual homecoming parade Sept. 29.

This year’s event was led by Rocky Point alumni, who were celebrating their 40th anniversary, and featured members of the marching band, cheerleading teams, colorful banners created by Frank J. Carasiti Elementary School and Joseph A. Edgar Intermediate School students and homecoming floats fashioned by each high school grade level. The floats and banners each followed this year’s theme of “Rocky Point honors our armed forces.”

Throughout homecoming weekend, members of the high school varsity and junior varsity teams competed in challenging games against some of the region’s top high schools. The celebratory event was capped off with the traditional juniors versus seniors powder puff game, which collected donations for organizations committed to fighting children’s cancer.

In the game, Kings Park defeated Rocky Point 41-14, dropping the Eagles to 1-4 this season.
