Update: Joseph Poveromo has been located and is in good health, Riverhead Police said.

The Riverhead Police Department and the National Center for Missing and Endangered are seeking the public’s help in locating a missing man from Wading River.

Joseph Poveromo, 25, was last seen leaving his family’s residence at 34 Dogwood Lane in Wading River on Jan. 20 at approximately 12 midnight and leaving in his vehicle, a 1997 Nissan Maxima, tan in color with New York license plates LSR-1399.

Poveromo is described as a white male, 5′-7″ tall, weighing 150 pounds, with a fair complexion, hazel eyes, and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and a gray hooded sweater.

Poveromo is known to frequent the Wading River, Calverton, Riverhead and Mastic Beach areas, including parks in those areas.

He has been diagnosed with Aspberger’s Syndrome, ADHD, post-concussion syndrome, autism and is believed to be suicidal and in need of medical attention.

Riverhead Town Police are seeking the public’s help to locate a man missing from Riverhead. Glen Gregor, 59, was last seen leaving 629 West Main Street on Oct. 31 at 11:30 a.m. He is described as a white male with long gray hair and a beard; 6-feet, 2-inches tall and 290 lbs., and is possibly wearing jeans and a T-shirt, police said.

Anyone with information about Gregor’s location is asked to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500. All calls will be kept confidential.

A Port Jefferson Station man died after he became trapped between two hangar doors in Calverton on Jan. 15.

Riverhead Police Department responded to Old Castle Precast located at 931 Burman Blvd in Calverton and found 56-year-old Thomas Savier of Port Jefferson Station unconscious and not breathing. 

It appeared that Savier had attempted to enter the facility through one of the large hanger doors, which was partially opened. As Savier was doing so, the hanger door closed, pinning him in between two portions of the door. 

After an unknown period of time, two other male subjects were able to free Savier from the door using a forklift and then began CPR. Riverhead Town Ambulance responded and attempted life saving measures; however, Savier succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A woman allegedly used a stolen credit card to make purchases at Best Buy and Michaels, both located at 1440 Old Country Road, at approximately 3 p.m. on December 28.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Riverhead Town Police Department detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the person people who caused a fire at a home in Wading River Monday.

An unknown person allegedly threw an incendiary device was thrown at a residence on Sound Road in Wading River Nov. 16 at around 8 p.m. A resident immediately extinguished the fire and no one was injured. Detectives from the Suffolk County Police Department Arson Section responded to assist in the investigation.

The Riverhead News Review reported owners said it may have involved the resident’s lawn signs, which preached inclusivity and fair treatment of women and minorities.

A Gofundme for the family of a woman who died in a Riverhead motorcycle crash Monday has already raised over $70,000 from more than 600 people as of Thursday.

Riverhead police announced July 14 that Regina Bornello, 45, of Rocky Point, was involved in a motorcycle crash the day before on Sound Avenue in Riverhead. Police said in a release that Bornello’s 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle was travelling westbound on Sound Avenue when it entered the eastbound lane and struck a 2003 Honda Civic driven by an unidentified 50-year-old man. The Civic turned over and the Riverhead Fire Department had to extricate the owner who was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center, according to police. Bornello succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the crash, police said.

According to the Gofundme, Bornello is survived by her husband Dennis and three children. 

“Heaven has opened its gates to a loving mother, a loving wife and a beautiful person to all that know her,” wrote John Brush, of Oakdale, on the Gofundme page he created.
