Parker
Update: Parker has a Forever Foster! Way to go Parker!

MEET PARKER!

Parker is a ten year-old Male Chihuahua Mix who came to the Smithtown Animal Shelter after losing his beloved previous owner to the COVID-19 virus. Parker loves meeting new friends, going on walks, snuggling, and snacks. Parker was not taught proper manners when he was younger, leading him to develop food and toy aggression and a habit of guarding things he perceives as “his”. He requires an adult-only home that is comfortable managing this, and implementing strict rules and structure; all while understanding that Parker is 100% worth the effort.

Parker has blood pressure and vision problems, and he needs an experienced owner who is willing to put in the extra effort despite these challenges. This poor boy has been through quite a lot in his life and needs a furrever home that won’t give up on him.

If you are interested in meeting Parker, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with him in a domestic setting, which includes a Meet and Greet Room, the dog runs and a Dog Walk trail.

The Smithtown Animal & Adoption Shelter is located at 410 Middle Country Road, Smithtown. Shelter operating hours are currently Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Sundays and Wednesday evenings by appointment only).

MEET PARKER!

This week’s shelter pet is Parker, an 8 to 9-year-old Chihuahua and COVID orphan currently waiting at the Smithtown Animal Shelter for his furever home.

Parker’s mom loved him very much and it shows. This little guy adores all people, cats and friendly dogs big and small. He was over-indulged by his prior owner and some bad habits developed. He has resource aggression and needs a home that is comfortable managing this, giving him strict rules and structure and a parent that understands he is 100% worth the effort.

Parker is adored by every person that meets him. Unlike most Chihuahuas, he loves meeting new people and going on adventures. This poor boy has been through the ringer and needs a family that won’t give up on him.

He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccines.

If you are interested in meeting Parker, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with him in the shelter’s Meet and Greet Room. The Smithtown Animal & Adoption Shelter is located at 410 Middle Country Road, Smithtown. For more information, please call 631-360-7575 or visit www.smithtownanimalshelter.com.

MEET PARKER!

This week’s shelter pet is Parker, a 9-year-old male Chihuahua mix. Sadly, he is a COVID-19 orphan who lost his owner to the disease two months ago. His two geriatric doggy siblings went into foster care, while Parker was brought to the Smithtown Animal Shelter.

Parker

This little boy is an absolute love mush who loves all people, and most other dogs and cats! He has a heart murmur that currently does not require any medications, but this may change in the future.

Parker does have food aggression, so he cannot be placed in a home with small children. It may require a bit of extra attention and care to meet all of his needs, but the extra work is worth it when he snuggles up with you.

Parker has been through a lot in his little life, and all he wants is love, attention and a comfy lap to sleep on. We know his hero and forever home is out there for him somewhere. If you are interested in meeting Parker please fill out an adoption application online at www.townofsmithtownanimalshelter.com.
