Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in Coram on Tuesday, Aug. 9.

Preston Pavlo was driving a 2020 Nissan Altima southbound on County Road 83 when the vehicle struck the rear of an unoccupied tow truck that was parked in the left lane just south of Mooney Pond Road at approximately 7:30 p.m. The tow truck was at the scene to remove a vehicle that was involved in a previous crash.

Pavlo, 83, of Mount Sinai, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The Nissan was impounded for a safety check. A Motor Carrier Safety Section unit conducted a safety check of the tow truck at the scene.

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a motorist in Fort Salonga yesterday.

Kenneth Gallagher was driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck westbound on Fort Salonga Road when the vehicle collided head-on with a box truck that was traveling eastbound in front of 84 Fort Salonga Road, at approximately 4:40 p.m.

Gallagher, 24, of Northport, was transported by Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the box truck, Dylan Bradshaw, 25, of Hauppauge, was transported to St. Catherine of Siena Hospital in Smithtown for treatment of minor injuries.

The box truck was processed at the scene by the Suffolk County Police Motor Carrier Safety Unit and the Dodge was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a single-vehicle crash that seriously injured a man in Huntington on Saturday, July 2.

Constantine Nektaredes was driving a 1996 Dodge pickup truck northbound on Park Avenue when his vehicle crossed over the southbound lane, left the roadway and struck a tree at 10:07 a.m.

Nektaredes, 67, of East Northport, was airlifted via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Suffolk County Police 4th Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in Smithtown early in the morning July 9.

James Turek was driving a 2007 Nissan Altima eastbound on Route 347, just east of Terry Road, when the vehicle collided with the rear of an eastbound box truck at about 1:15 a.m.

Turek, 33, of Mount Sinai, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the box truck, an adult male, was transported to the same hospital for evaluation.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the 4th Squad at 631-854-8452.
