Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who allegedly scammed an individual in Coram in June.

The man pictured above allegedly posted a house for rent on social media that was not available and received $3,900 from the victim on June 1 at approximately 9 a.m.

Suffolk County Police arrested a woman for assault after she intentionally struck a woman with her vehicle in North Bellport in the early morning of Oct. 26.

Following a dispute between two women in a parking lot, located at 1733 Montauk Highway, at 3:40 a.m. Philomena Mistretta got into her 2004 Toyota Sienna and intentionally struck the woman with the vehicle. The victim, 63, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue with serious injuries.

Fifth Squad detectives charged Mistretta, 51, of Coram, with Assault 1st Degree.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the stabbing death of a man that occurred during a party in Huntington Station on Oct. 27.

Second Precinct officers responded to house on Lowndes Ave. at approximately 2 a.m. after a 911caller reported a stabbing at the location. When officers arrived, they located two men stabbed.

Justino Alfaro-Avila, 29, of Huntington Station, was transported to Huntington Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A 39-year-old man was treated at a local hospital and released.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

Vanderbilt honors First Responders

Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum, 180 Little Neck Road, Centerport will welcome First Responders and their families as guests by offering them free general admission on National First Responders Day, Sunday, October 27, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. First responders will be asked for ID cards or proof of affiliation. (This includes police, firefighters, paramedics, and emergency medical service personnel.) 

“We thank and salute the first responders in our communities,” said Elizabeth Wayland-Morgan, Executive Director of the Vanderbilt. “They are our neighbors who respond bravely and immediately every day to protect us.”

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate two men who allegedly attempted to use counterfeit money in August.

Two men entered Spirit Halloween, located at 5025 Jericho Turnpike, Commack, at 6 p.m. on August 22 and allegedly attempted to use a counterfeit $100 bill to pay for merchandise. The transaction was denied by an employee of the store.

Suffolk County Police arrested two women during a raid at a Huntington Station massage parlor on Oct. 22.

In response to numerous community complaints, Suffolk County Police Second Precinct Crime Section
officers, in conjunction with the Town of Huntington Fire Marshal and Building Department, conducted
an investigation into Twinkling Spa Inc., located at 1783 New York Ave., at approximately 2:35 p.m.

Xin Rong Lin, 61, of Flushing, was charged with alleged Unauthorized Practice of a Profession, a felony, and
Criminal Nuisance 2nd Degree, a misdemeanor. Minhua Guo, 32, of East Setauket, was charged with two
counts of alleged Unauthorized Practice of a Profession, a felony, and one count of Prostitution, a misdemeanor.

The Town of Huntington issued multiple violations to the business. The two women were issued Field
Appearance Tickets and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date. The
investigation is continuing.

Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Blue Point on Oct. 22.

Marta Ordonez-Castillo was driving a 2009 Hyundai Elantra southbound on Kennedy Avenue near Pine Street when the vehicle struck Oscar Lopez-Machado who was working on a 2006 Dodge Ram parked on the northbound side of the road.

Lopez-Machado, 44, of Centereach, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Ordonez-Castillo, 54, of East Patchogue, was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue for a evaluation. The vehicles were impounded for a safety check.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.

The man pictured above allegedly stole clothing from TJ Maxx, located at 371 Route 347 on September 25 at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motorcycle crash that killed
a woman and seriously injured a man in Yaphank on Oct. 20.

Frederick Fischer was operating a 2007 Harley-Davidson westbound on the Long Island Expressway, just west of Exit 68, with Dawn Jimenez-Salta as a passenger on the back, when the motorcycle struck the rear of a 2016 Lexus SUV that had slowed down due to traffic at approximately 5:25 p.m. The Lexus then struck the rear of a 2019 Audi SUV.

Jimenez-Salta, 60, of Garden City, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue where she was pronounced dead. Fischer, 65, of Bay Shore, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. There were no other injuries. All three vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.

Update: The motorcyclist killed in a motor vehicle crash on the Long Island Expressway this morning has
been identified as Idris Shehu, 20, of Hicksville. Below is the original press release:

Suffolk County Police arrested a Medford man on Oct. 21 for alleged DWAI following a crash that killed a
motorcyclist in Islandia.

Alan Mercado was driving a 2010 Honda on the westbound Long Island Expressway, just east of exit 57, when he attempted to move from the center to the right lane and was struck from behind by a 2017 Yamaha motorcycle at 1:12 a.m. The motorcycle operator, who is not being identified pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. A passenger in the Honda was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Mercado was not injured.

Mercado, 67, was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired By Drugs. He will be held overnight for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on October 22. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to contact Major Case Unit detectives at 631-852-6555.
