Suffolk County Police arrested a man for alleged possession of crack cocaine in Holtsville on Feb. 8.

A member of the Suffolk County Police Street Takeover Task Force observed a 2010 Infiniti G37 traveling westbound on the LIE, between Exits 61 and 62, traveling at a high rate of speed and changing lanes without signaling, at approximately 12 a.m. The officer stopped the vehicle and during the traffic stop, it was discovered the driver was in possession of crack cocaine. The driver also had a suspended driver’s license and registration.

The driver, Anthony Cucuzzo, 44, of Holbrook, was arrested and transported to the Sixth Precinct. He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree and was also issued multiple vehicle and traffic law citations. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on February 27. The vehicle was impounded.

Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a
woman in East Patchogue on Feb. 7.

Patricia Lovetro was driving a 2023 Nissan Sentra on the Eastbound Sunrise Service Road, approaching a right turn at Gazzola Drive, when the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a wooded area, at approximately 8:50 p.m. Lovetro, 84, of Deer Park, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, where she was pronounced dead. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Fifth Precinct Crime Section officers are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man and woman who allegedly stole from a Sayville store last month.

A man and woman allegedly stole items from Target, located at 5750 Sunrise Highway on January 28, at approximately 5:30 p.m. They fled in a newer model electric blue four-door Honda Accord.

A man allegedly stole clothing valued at approximately $500 from Macy’s, located in the Smith Haven Mall, at 7:20 p.m. on January 23.

Suffolk County Police arrested two women on Feb. 4 during a massage parlor raid in Huntington.

In response to numerous community complaints, Second Precinct Crime Section officers, in conjunction with the Town of Huntington Fire Marshal and Building Inspector, conducted an investigation into Jericho Foot Spa, located at 1152 East Jericho Turnpike, at approximately 2:30 p.m.

Xiaoyong Chen, 45, of Flushing, was charged with alleged Unauthorized Practice of a Profession, an E felony, Prostitution, and Criminal Nuisance 2nd Degree, both misdemeanors.

Yufang Zheng, 42, of Flushing, was charged with alleged Unauthorized Practice of a Profession, an E felony, and Prostitution, a misdemeanor.

The Town of Huntington Fire Marshall and Building Inspector issued multiple violations to the business. Chen and Zheng were both issued Desk Appearance Tickets and are scheduled to be to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.

Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a bicyclist on Feb. 3 in Miller Place.

Marc Wilke was riding a bicycle southbound across Route 25A, east of Hunter Avenue, when he was struck by an eastbound 2021 Nissan Sentra at approximately 6:55 p.m. Wilke, 51, of Patchogue, was transported by Rocky Point Rescue ambulance to Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Nissan, Sylvia Balmer, 60, of Mastic Beach was not injured.

The Nissan was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854- 8652.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Precinct officers are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who allegedly fled the scene of a motor vehicle crash in Selden last month.

A man was operating a dark colored Jeep in the 7-Eleven parking lot, located at 1316 Middle Country Road, when the vehicle allegedly struck a Honda CRV on January 23 at 10:34 p.m. and fled the scene.

Suffolk County Police Motor Carrier Safety Section officers, along with personnel from the Suffolk County Department of Weights and Measures and the New York State Environmental Conservation Police conducted checks of home heating fuel delivery trucks in Commack on Feb. 3.

Fifteen tanker trucks were inspected at the Motor Carrier Inspection Site, located on Crooked Hill Road in Commack. Three were placed out of service for federal and state safety violations including a driver who did not possess a license with proper endorsement, a brake violation, and a hazmat placarding violation.

Of the nine delivery meters inspected and tested by Suffolk County Weights and Measures, all were found in compliance with regulations and calibration tolerances.

Checkpoints of home heating oil trucks are conducted randomly during the winter to ensure the commercial vehicles are operating safely and in compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

Second update on Feb. 3: Detectives believe the vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian on Nesconset Highway in Lake Grove on February 1 is a 2006 to 2007 dark gray Honda Accord. See photo attached.

Update on Feb. 2: Sampada Aduulla, 24, of Lake Grove, has been identified as the woman killed in a hit-and-run crash while crossing Nesconset Highway in Lake Grove on February 1.

Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Lake Grove on Feb. 1.

A woman was crossing Nesconset Highway, near Hallock Road, when she was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound at 6:20 a.m. that fled the scene. The woman, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to contact the Major Case Unit at 631-852-
6555 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

Suffolk County Police arrested a Selden man on Feb. 2 for having allegedly burglarized nine businesses between November 2024 and today.

Sixth Precinct officers responded to a 911 call reporting a burglary at Subway, located at 668 Middle Country Road in Selden at 9:49 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found the front glass window of the business had been broken and cash had been stolen from the register and coins from a donation jar. Following an investigation by Sixth Squad detectives, Michael Parise was identified and located a short time later on Middle Country Road in Coram at 11:07 a.m.

Parise has been identified as the man who has allegedly committed nine similar burglaries and one attempted burglary since November 2024. In all instances, he entered the business by breaking an exterior door or window and stole cash. In addition to the incident today, he was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree for the following incidents:

  • Subway, located at 2350 Route 347, Stony Brook, reported at approximately 5 a.m. on Nov. 27, 2024
  • Ssambap Korean BBQ, located at 2350 Route 347, Stony Brook, reported at 6:26 a.m. on Dec. 16, 2024
  • Orangetheory Fitness, located at 2306 Route 347, Stony Brook, reported at 10:59 p.m. on Dec. 24, 2024
  • Hype Cut and Color Bar, located at 159 Terry Road, Smithtown, reported at 9:32 a.m. on Dec. 27, 2024
  • Tainos Café and Lounge, located at 24 Middle Country Road, Coram, reported at 4 p.m. on Dec. 27, 2024
  • Bagel Café of Stony Brook, located at 2310 Route 347, Stony Brook, reported at 7:28 p.m. on Jan. 5, 2025
  • Kimochi Bubble Tea, located at 237 Middle Country Road, Selden, reported at 9:45 a.m. on Jan. 31
  • Middle Country Animal Hospital, located at 644D Middle Country Road, Selden, reported at 8:13 a.m. on Feb. 2, 2025

Parise was additionally charged with one count of Attempted Burglary 3rd Degree for an incident at Peking Chinese Kitchen, located at 640 Middle Country Road, Selden, during which he damaged a door to the restaurant but failed to gain entry on February 2, and Petit Larceny for stealing money from a donation box at McDonald’s, located at 2324 Route 347, Stony Brook, on December 26, 2024.

Parise, 49, of Selden was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on February 3.
