The young boy who police say was abducted by his mother this week has been found.

The Suffolk County Police Department announced early Friday morning that 5-year-old Sebastian Parsons-Kapp had been located and was put into the custody of Suffolk County Child Protective Services.

Police said Thursday that his mother, Kristin Kapp, had been ordered to turn over Sebastian to the agency some time ago. When she did not, a family court warrant for child neglect was issued, on April 27.

The boy’s father, who police said previously had an order of protection that prohibited contact with Sebastian, reported the child missing on Tuesday.

During the police investigation, authorities believed the mother and son, who were living in Stony Brook, had remained in New York, and possibly went to New York City. It was not clear where the boy was located.
