Suffolk County Police arrested a Centereach woman for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle crash that critically injured her passenger Dec. 18.

Paige Reddy was driving a 2011 Toyota Prius northbound on Mark Tree Road in Centereach when her vehicle struck a tree just north of School Street at 3:28 a.m.

Reddy’s passenger, Matthew Borkowski, 21, of Centereach, was critically injured and admitted to Stony Brook University Hospital.

Reddy, 21, was transported to Stony Brook hospital where she was admitted for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Reddy was charged with driving while intoxicated and will be arraigned at a later date.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is ongoing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.

Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a Mount Sinai man Dec. 7.

Glenn Taylor was operating a 2010 Toyota southbound on Chestnut Street  yesterday evening when he struck a tree approximately 500 feet south of Route 25A.

Taylor, 66, of Mount Sinai, was pronounced dead at the scene by personnel from Port Jefferson Ambulance.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is ongoing.  Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-8548652.

Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a tow truck operator in Shoreham Oct. 22.

Gian Russo was dispatched to Route 25A, east of Defense Hill Road, to tow an unoccupied, disabled vehicle. The tow truck was parked on the shoulder of the roadway, facing westbound, when a 2008 Ford Taurus struck the disabled vehicle and Russo at approximately 8:20 p.m. Russo was in the process of hooking up the vehicle to the tow truck when he was struck.

The driver of the Ford, Betty Lutz, 72, of Coram, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Russo, 39, of East Moriches, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician’s assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

All vehicles were impounded for safety checks. The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.

Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a mother and her daughter in Selden Oct. 22.

Shuofang Yang was driving a 2013 Audi S4 on Adirondack Drive when he attempted to make a left turn, heading westbound onto Middle County Road, when his vehicle collided with a Nissan Altima traveling eastbound on Middle County Road at approximately 5 p.m.

The driver of the Nissan, Marie Sanacore, 73, of Coram, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Her mother, Nellie Furino, 96, who lives with her, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where she died a short time later.

Yang, 22, of South Setauket, and his passenger were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check. The investigating is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.

Suffolk County Police 7th Squad detectives are investigating a single-car crash that killed a man in Rocky Point Sept. 24.

Thomas Farley was driving a 2010 Toyota Corolla northbound on Rocky Point-Yaphank Road, north of Whiskey Road, when his vehicle crossed over the southbound lane and struck a tree at approximately 8 a.m.

Farley, 25, of Astoria, Queens, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician’s assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is ongoing. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the 7th Squad at 631-852-8752.

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that critically injured a pedestrian in Melville Sept. 16.

Maurice White was driving a 2012 Mercedes Benz southbound on Route 110 when his vehicle struck John Erickson, 43, of Mount Sinai, who was attempting to cross Route 110 at the intersection of Spagnoli Road at approximately 1:05 a.m.

Erickson was airlifted via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital.  White, 46, of Massapequa, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is ongoing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.

A bus company employee driving a minibus hit an East Northport woman Tuesday morning.

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating the crash, which happened on Railroad Avenue in East Northport, at the driveway of Baumann and Sons Buses, where Joanne Fuller-Astarita, the victim and an employee of that business, was hit by a minibus turning into the location at about 10:15 a.m.

Fuller-Astarita, 57, of East Northport, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the minibus, Robert Heartland, 61, of Huntington Station, was not injured.

The minibus was inspected at the scene by officers from the Motor Carrier Safety Section. The investigation is continuing.

A young man was seriously injured on Thursday night as a car slammed into him and three others on Jayne Boulevard.

The Suffolk County Police Department said 19-year-old Jonathon Caba suffered a serious head injury in the Port Jefferson Station crash, which happened close to 9:30 p.m. Both he and 22-year-old Yaviel Calderon, who had a leg injury, were treated at Stony Brook University Hospital while the two others — Jerry Vargas, 18, and Aneudi Dilone, 20 — refused medical attention.

All four victims are from Port Jefferson Station, police said, as is the driver.

According to police, a 22-year-old man was driving north on Jayne in a 2004 Mercedes Benz close to Erie Street when he hit the four pedestrians, who were allegedly walking partially in the road.

The driver had a panic attack and was treated at John T. Mather Memorial Hospital, police said.

Police impounded the Mercedes for a safety check and detectives from the SCPD’s 6th Squad are investigating the crash.

One man was killed and another injured when two cars collided in Rocky Point on Tuesday morning.

The Suffolk County Police Department said Sean Carpenter’s 2002 Subaru Outback, which had been heading south on County Road 21, crossed into northbound traffic and hit a 1991 Nissan Sentra shortly before 6 a.m., killing 55-year-old driver Jose Amaya, of Medford.

A physician assistant from the county medical examiner’s office pronounced the victim dead at the scene — which was about 1 mile north of Whiskey Road — while Carpenter, 25, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Stony Brook University Hospital.

Carpenter is also a Medford resident.

Police impounded both the Subaru and the Nissan for safety checks.

Detectives from the SCPD’s 7th Squad are investigating the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call them at 631-852-8752.

A recent Comsewogue High School graduate was seriously injured on Thursday morning when he was hit by a car on Route 25A.

The Suffolk County Police Department said Dan Colasanto was in the roadway around 1 a.m., on a stretch near Westgate Drive in Mount Sinai, when an eastbound 2010 Honda hit him.

The 18-year-old pedestrian, a Port Jefferson Station resident, was treated for serious injuries at John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson, police said. The driver, a 48-year-old Miller Place woman, was not hurt.

Colasanto graduated from Comsewogue in 2015. During his high school days, he was a star pitcher and third baseman on the baseball team, as well as a strong hitter.

He also played for the Warriors football team.

Detectives from the SCPD’s 6th Squad are investigating the crash and have impounded the Honda for a safety check.
