Port Jefferson’s boys golf team defeated Mount Sinai on the links 8-1 Sept. 27 at Willow Creek Golf & Country Club in Mount Sinai, moving its record to 4-1 this season. The Royals will be back in action Oct. 4 at 3:30 p.m. at Port Jefferson Country Club against Longwood.

The Ward Melville Patriots boys varsity football team (4-0) defeated the Patchogue-Medford Raiders (0-4) at a home game Sept. 28 with a  final score of 37-6.

The Patriots will face Walt Whitman High School at Ward Melville High School’s homecoming game Oct. 6.

 

Harborfields varsity girls volleyball dug deep but fell 3-0 to the visiting Eastport-South Manor Sharks Oct. 1. The loss dropped the Tornadoes to an even 3-3 in league competition this season. Harborfields will host Islip at home Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. before holding a tournament Oct. 6.

Smithtown High School East trampled over the Newfield Wolverines, 38-24, to claim victory at their Sept. 29 homecoming.

The Bulls’ offense came in ready to play, picking up 17 points in the first half. The Wolverines countered with three points, putting the score at 17-3 going into halftime. The offense for Smithtown East continued to do well in the second half, scoring another 21 points to put the game away.

The win improved the East Bulls standing to 3-1 as they hit the road to take on Deer Park Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. Newfield falls behind with the loss to 1-3 for the 2018 season and will host the Huntington Blue Devils Oct. 5 at 5:30 p.m.

The Shoreham-Wading River Wildcats varsity football team blew out Center Moriches 41-12 on the road Sept. 21. The win improves the Wildcats’ record to 2-1 this season. SWR will host Elwood-John Glenn Sept. 28 at 6 p.m.

The Ward Melville Patriots boys varsity volleyball team (4-1) defeated the Westhampton Beach Hurricanes (1-4) at a home game Sept. 25 with a  final score of 3-1.

The Ward Melville Patriots boys volleyball team will host Smithtown West Sept. 27 at 4 p.m. and travel to Bay Shore Oct. 2.

Port Jefferson’s boys soccer team jumped out to a 2-0 lead at home against Babylon Sept. 24, but dropped the game 3-2 after a Babylon comeback. The loss dropped the Royals to 1-7 in league competition this season.

 

The Centereach girls varsity soccer team edged out the Huntington Blue Devils for the win, 2-1, Sept. 20 while on the road.

This improved Centereach’s record to 4-1 in Division I competition. Watch the Cougars play as they host Riverhead at 6 pm. Friday and also host Brentwood Sept. 24 at 4 p.m.

The loss drops Huntington to a 1-3-1 record. The Blue Devils will travel to Central Islip Sept. 22 at noon before coming home to host Newsfield at 4 p.m. Sept. 24.

Ward Melville (now 4-0) traveled to Miller Place (0-4) for a girls tennis match Sept. 17. The Patriots beat the Miller Place Panthers 7-0.

Wyandanch traveled to Earl L. Vandermeulen High School Sept. 15 and defeated Port Jefferson on the football field 26-23. The Royals have opened the young season with two straight losses. They’ll look to get in the win column Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. at Mount Sinai.
