UPDATE:

Suffolk County Police have arrested a Copiague man for leaving the scene of a fatal seven-vehicle crash in Holbrook on March 4.

Following an investigation by Major Case Unit detectives, Christopher Macri was identified as the man who fled the scene of the crash. First Precinct Patrol and First Precinct Crime Section officers located Macri in a stolen vehicle on West Drive in Copiague today.

Macri, 29, was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident with a Fatality. He was additionally charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree for stealing a vehicle in Copiague on March 7.

Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating a seven-vehicle crash during which a man was killed and a driver fled on foot in Holbrook on the morning of March 4. Police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving seven vehicles on Sunrise Highway, between Broadway and Lincoln Boulevard, at 4:35 a.m. Detectives are continuing to investigate the cause and sequence of the crash.

The operator of a 2002 Toyota Celica, Saula-Bueno Kelvin, 22, of Bay Shore, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue where he was pronounced dead. Three other drivers were transported to local hospitals for treatment on non-life-threatening injuries. Two drivers were not injured. There were no passengers in any of the involved vehicles. The driver of a 2012 Mazda fled the scene on foot.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crash to call Major Case at 631-852-6553 or Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

Suffolk County police arrested a Lake Grove man May 23 for driving with more than 40 license suspensions.

Highway patrol officer Matthew White pulled over a 2003 Nissan on westbound Sunrise Highway, near Connetquot Avenue, at approximately 8:25 a.m. after he observed the vehicle was missing a front license plate. Officer White determined the driver, James Tomassi, was driving with a license that had been suspended 41 times.

Tomassi, 36, was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating while registration suspended/revoked. His vehicle was impounded and he was arraigned today at 1st District Court in Central Islip.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of man who was killed while working under a vehicle in Bohemia April 29.

Timoteo Apazaari was under a box truck making repairs on the exhaust system when the vehicle rolled and struck him in the parking lot of Baker’s Antiques and Collectibles, located at 4770 Sunrise Highway, at approximately 2:10 p.m.

Apazaari, 51, of Huntington, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a two-car crash that killed a man in West Babylon yesterday evening.

Alfred Bayard was driving a 2013 Jeep Wrangler eastbound on Sunrise Highway at approximately 6:30 p.m. when his vehicle collided with a 2004 Dodge Ram that was also traveling eastbound on Sunrise Highway at the Hubbards Path overpass. 

Bayard, 53, of Barnyard Lane, Setauket, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The driver of the Dodge Ram, Nicole Limbach, 25, of Ronkonkoma was transported by West Babylon Rescue to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where she was treated for minor injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation in continuing. Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
