Suffolk County Police arrested a 15-year-old boy after he allegedly stabbed his mother and fatally stabbed his grandmother in Selden on April 7.

After being stabbed by her son, Vanessa Chendemi ran out of her residence, located on Old Town
Road, at approximately 9:45 p.m. A passing motorist stopped to offer assistance and Chendemi got into
the vehicle where she called 911 to report the incident.

When officers arrived at the scene they found Concetta Chendemi, 56, inside the residence with stab
wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk
County Medical Examiner. Vanessa Chendemi, 36, was transported to an area hospital in stable
condition.

The 15-year-old fled the scene after the stabbing. Officers canvassing the area arrested the boy at Dare
Road and Buckskin Lane in Selden at 11:22 p.m. Homicide Squad detectives charged the boy, whose
name is being withheld due to his age, with Murder 2nd Degree and Attempted Murder. He is scheduled
to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on April 8.

A man allegedly stole a bottle of Don Julio tequila from Barrels & Stills, located at 685 Walt Whitman Road, on March 20 at approximately 7:15 p.m. The subject fled the store in a gray Nissan sedan.

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a woman in Huntington on April 3.

Marlon Mendez was driving a 2019 Lincoln Navigator westbound on Main Street, when the vehicle left the roadway near Prime Avenue, and then struck a fence and a concrete stanchion, at approximately 10:40 p.m.

A passenger in the Lincoln, Liliana Mendez, 44, of St. James, was transported to Huntington Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Marlon Mendez, 44, of St. James, went to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The Lincoln was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to contact Second Squad detectives at 631-854-8252.

In the market for a new car? The Suffolk County Police Department Impound Section will hold an auction on Saturday, April 5 at the department’s impound facility, located at 100 Old Country Road in Westhampton. 

The auction will begin at 9 a.m. and will be held rain or shine. There will be a preview of vehicles on Thursday, April 3 and Friday, April 4 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the impound yard. Vehicles will also be available for preview for one hour prior to the start of the auction on April 5.

Approximately 100 vehicles will be auctioned off including sedans, pick-up trucks, vans and SUVs. All vehicles will start with a minimum bid of $500 and are sold as-is.

Update:

Suffolk County Police on April 1 arrested a man for killing another man in East Patchogue on March 30.

Homicide Squad detectives arrested Antwane Lee at Suffolk County Police Headquarters for stabbing and killing Justin Evans at a residence on Pondview Drive, East Patchogue, on March 30 at approximately 8 p.m.

Lee, 31, Bay Shore, was charged with Murder 2nd Degree. He was to be held overnight at the Third Precinct and scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on April 2.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the stabbing death of a man that
occurred in East Patchogue on March 30.

Police responded to a report of a fight in an apartment complex on Pondview Drive at approximately 8 p.m.

Prior to police arrival, Justin Evans, who was stabbed in the neck during the fight, was transported in a private vehicle to NYU Langone Hospital – Suffolk in Patchogue. Evans, 22, of Bay Shore, was pronounced dead a short time later.
