Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found following a fire in an abandoned Moriches house on Jan. 24.

A 911 caller reported a fire at 151 Montauk Highway at approximately 11:50 p.m. After the fire was extinguished, a man’s body was found in the house.

The man’s identity and cause of death will be determined during an autopsy by personnel from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

Following a preliminary investigation, detectives believe the cause of the fire to be non-criminal in nature.

Two men allegedly stole plants from Lowe’s, located at 2796 Route 112, on December 21. The plants were valued at $489. One man was wearing a blue coat and the second man was wearing a black coat. The suspects fled in a white pickup truck.

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed two people in Central Islip on Jan. 22.

A man was driving a 2002 Honda Accord eastbound on Suffolk Avenue when he attempted to make a left turn onto William Street and his vehicle was struck by a westbound 2009 Lexus sedan at approximately 10:50 p.m.

The driver of the Honda and his passenger, also a man, were transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where they were pronounced dead. Their names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the Lexus, a 19-year-old man, was not injured.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.

Suffolk County Police arrested a woman on Jan. 23 for alleged prostitution and unauthorized practice of a profession during a massage parlor raid in Huntington Station.

In response to numerous community complaints, Suffolk County Police Second Precinct Crime Section officers, in conjunction with the Town of Huntington Fire Marshal and Huntington Public Safety, conducted an investigation into Huntington Spa, located at 1973 New York Ave., and arrested Xiao Mei Ye at 2:30 p.m.

Ye, 44, of Flushing, was charged with two counts of alleged Unauthorized Practice of a Profession, a felony, and two counts of Prostitution, a misdemeanor. Summonses were issued by the town of Huntington Public Safety.

Ye was released on a Desk Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.

Suffolk County Police arrested two people on Jan. 19 following an armed robbery of a convenience store in Port Jefferson Station.

A man approached an employee of Speedy Mart and Gas, located at 1034 Route 112, displayed a gun and demanded cash, at 9:21 p.m. The clerk complied, and the robber fled the scene on foot to a vehicle waiting down the street.

Canvasing the area, a patrol unit officer stopped two people, one of whom matched the suspect’s description. During his investigation, the officer recovered a Polymer80 ghost gun on the male subject. The two subjects were taken into custody at the intersection of Joline Road and Newport Drive in Port Jefferson Station, at approximately 9:55 p.m.

Sixth Squad detectives charged Javon Holliday, 21, of Riverhead and Giavanna Pergola, 19, of Port Jefferson Station, with Robbery 1st Degree.

They are being held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on January 20.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
