MEET MIA!

This week’s featured shelter pet is Mia, a 3-year-old pitbull/mastiff/lab mix who has sadly been at the Smithtown Animal Shelter for 2 years.

A volunteer favorite, Mia is a goofy dog who loves to play and throw toys around to make you laugh. She also enjoys car rides and snuggles!

Mia is very nervous about new people. She will need a home that can properly introduce her to a new environment in a way that makes her feel safe. She would do best as the only pet in an adult only home.

If you would like to meet Mia, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with her in a domestic setting.

The Smithtown Animal & Adoption Shelter is located at 410 Middle Country Road, Smithtown. Visitor hours are currently Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Sundays and Wednesday evenings by appointment only). For more information, call 631-360-7575 or visit www.smithtownanimalshelter.com.

MEET MIA!

This week’s shelter pet is Mia, who is still waiting at the Smithtown Animal Shelter for her furever home. This sweet pit pix female is playful and sweet. She is all love and play 24/7. Mia adores her people and trusts them completely. She can be found frolicking with her toys or sitting at a volunteer’s feet getting some love. This beauty is a little slow to warm up to strangers, but once she trusts you, it is forever.

Mia came to the shelter as a stray with a broken foot but she is 100% healed and ready for a loving home to call her own.If you would like to meet her, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with her in a domestic setting, which includes a Meet and Greet Room.

Mia

Mia is a three year-old Female Mastiff and Lab Mix. Mia has a heartbreaking story, arriving at the Smithtown Animal Shelter after she was hit by a car. Fortunately, she ended up with only minor scrapes and fractures in her foot. However, her owner could not afford medical treatments, and she was surrendered to the Shelter as a result.

Mia

Mia grew up as a yard dog, where she lived a life where she didn’t get much exposure to others. Her time in the Shelter has helped her come out of her shell, and she has shown how goofy, affectionate, and loving she can be. Mia’s favorite activities include walks and playing with toys! It takes her some time to get used to strangers, but once you become friends with her, she’ll reward you with snuggles and kisses. Mia would do well in homes with non-dominant dogs that are her size and with children 14 and older.

She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines.

If you are interested in meeting Mia, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with her in a domestic setting, which includes our Meet and Greet Room, the dog runs, and our Dog Walk trail. Family Pet Meet and Greets and at home interactions are also welcome and an integral part of the adoption process.

MEET MIA – AGAIN!

This week’s shelter pet is Mia is a 3-year-old mastiff/pit/lab mix who is still waiting at the Smithtown Animal Shelter for her furever home.

Mia is stunningly beautiful, goofy and playful. Because she lacked proper socialization in her puppy years, she tends to distrust strangers.  She needs someone who is willing to give her time to trust; then you will be rewarded with kisses, cuddles and slobber. Once she trusts someone, it is forever.

Mia would be best suited as an only pet in an adult only home. She is spayed, microchipped and is up to date on her vaccines. If you are interested in meeting Mia please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with her in a domestic setting, which includes a Meet and Greet Room, the dog runs and a Dog Walk trail.

MEET MIA!

This week’s shelter pet is Mia, a loving and energetic two year-old Pit/Lab Mix currently waiting at the Smithtown Animal Shelter for her furever home.

Equal parts goofy and affectionate, Mia came to the shelter as a stray after being hit by a car and fortunately sustaining only minor injuries. She loves to whip around her rope toys and chase after balls and thinks she is a lap dog and will crawl in your lap and shower you with kisses.

Mia was a yard dog, so she is protective of her space when it comes to strangers, and she will require a home that can properly introduce her to new people. Once she meets a new friend, she loves them unconditionally. Mia would be best as the only pet in the home. She comes spayed, up to date on her vaccines and microchipped.

MEET MIA!

This week’s shelter pet is Mia, a 2-year-old brindled beauty currently waiting at the Smithtown Animal Shelter for her knight in shining armor.

Mia is a lab/pit mix with a goofball spirit and a loving personality. Left to grow up as a yard dog, she did not receive the love and attention she deserved as a puppy and needs an experienced home where she can learn what it is to be a normal dog with a loving family. She is as playful and affectionate as they come and believes herself to be a 70 pound lap dog!

Mia is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all her vaccines.

If you are interested in meeting Mia, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with her in the shelter’s Meet and Greet Room. MEET MIA!

This week’s shelter pet is Mia, a young female Mastiff and Lab mix who came to the shelter as a stray after being hit by a car. Fortunately, Mia’s injuries were not severe, with only a few scrapes and minor fractures in her foot.

Mia’s former owner could no longer provide for her, post car accident. Despite being scared and injured, she began to bond with the shelter staff with her playful and affectionate personality shining through the bruises and bumps.

In her former life, Mia was an outdoor yard dog who didn’t receive much attention. The silver lining is just how grateful she is to love and be cuddled by everyone she meets. Mia would be best in a home without other pets or children.

*Due to the health risk presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be limited public access to the shelter. If you are interested in meeting Mia please fill out an adoption application online at www.townofsmithtownanimalshelter.com.
