Update: Central Islip man arrested for alleged DWAI after injuring bicyclist in crash
Update: Eryk McPherson, the bicyclist who was seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash in Central Islip
on October 13, died of his injuries on October 14.

Eryk McPherson was riding a bicycle westbound across Joshuas Path at Vanderbilt Avenue when he was struck by a 2012 Honda sedan traveling southbound on Joshuas Path at approximately 7:30 p.m.
McPherson, 19, of Brentwood, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver of the Honda, David Alfaro, 21, of Central Islip, was arrested and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He is being held overnight at the Third Precinct and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on October 14.
