Suspect sought in PJS robbery

A man wearing a ski mask allegedly entered Speedway gas station in Port Jefferson Station Oct. 13, displayed what appeared to be a hand gun and demanded cash, according to Suffolk County police.

Sixth Squad detectives are investigating the incident, which occurred at the gas station located at 501 Patchogue Road in Port Jefferson Station at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning, police said. When the masked man made the request, the gas station employee did not comply, and the robber fled, and there were no injuries, police said.

Detectives believe this robbery is connected to an armed robbery that occurred at Sunoco gas station, located at 1575 Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station, Oct. 7 at 9:45 a.m. During that incident, a man entered the store, displayed what appeared to be a gun and demanded cash. The clerk complied and the man fled. No one was injured.

The suspect, pictured above, is described as light-skinned black, 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a medium build and a goatee.

Man arrested after second dead body found

Detectives have charged a man with first-degree manslaughter after his alleged victim was found unconscious and covered in blood.

The Suffolk County Police Department said early Thursday morning that 32-year-old Brentwood resident Samuel White was arrested for allegedly murdering Edwin Rivera, who was found lying on Clinton Avenue in Huntington the previous day.

A 911 caller had reported the body, and officers found the 39-year-old from Bay Shore on the ground next to his 2015 Mercedes. He was pronounced dead at Huntington Hospital.

Police had said Wednesday that the death had been ruled criminal and detectives were waiting on an autopsy from the county medical examiner’s office to determine how he died.

No attorney information was available for the murder suspect, White, on the New York State court system’s online database.

Rivera’s was the second body found in the Huntington area this week. Just a few days earlier, officers had found the body of 33-year-old William Sarcenolima, of Huntington Station, partially in the roadway on West Hills Road. He too was pronounced dead at Huntington Hospital and his body was transported to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. Police have not yet announced a cause of death, but said at the time the body was found that Sarcenolima may have been a victim of violence.

Masked man robs North Shore bank

A man in a construction mask robbed a TD Bank on Sunday afternoon, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

The man entered the bank on Lake Avenue in St. James shortly after 2:30 p.m. and approached a teller, displaying a note that demanded cash, police said. After the teller complied with the demand, the suspect, who had covered the lower half of his face with the construction mask, fled south on Lake Avenue on foot.

Police further described the robber as white, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and with a medium build, wearing a brown hoodie and blue jeans.

Major Case Unit detectives are investigating the case.

Cops use DNA to track down burglar

Police say they used DNA to find a burglar who broke into a house a few months ago and assaulted the homeowner who found him.

The burglary occurred on Oct. 3, when the suspect entered a Huntington Station home around 7:40 p.m., according to the Suffolk County Police Department. After the owner discovered the intruder, police said, there was a struggle and the burglar told the victim he had a handgun. The burglar fled the scene afterward.

Police said detectives from the 2nd Squad recovered DNA evidence that was linked to 59-year-old Scott Lundquist of Huntington Station.

Lundquist was arrested on Friday afternoon and charged with first-degree burglary, third-degree assault and resisting arrest.

The defendant was listed as representing himself on the state court system’s database and could not be reached for comment.

Masked man robs Chase bank

An Elwood bank was robbed on Thursday afternoon by a man in a black mask.

The Suffolk County Police Department said the robber entered the Chase Bank in Huntington Square Mall shortly after 2:30 p.m. and verbally announced a robbery. He allegedly went behind the teller counter and took cash from the drawer before fleeing on foot.

Police said the direction he went in was unknown.

The mall is located at Route 25 and Larkfield Road, near Elwood’s border with Commack.

Police described the robber as a 30- to 40-year-old man with a medium build who was about 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall. In addition to the black mask, he was also wearing a gray hooded jacket and jeans at the time of the crime.

Detectives from the SCPD’s Pattern Crime Unit are investigating the robbery.

Robber drags woman out of car at traffic light

A robbery suspect allegedly ripped a woman out of her car while she was stopped at a traffic light Tuesday morning.

According to the Suffolk County Police Department, the woman was driving to work and had exited the Long Island Expressway at exit 56 shortly before 9 a.m. She was waiting at a red light at the north service road’s intersection with Route 111 in Hauppauge when a man who was walking in the roadway opened the car’s front passenger door and got inside. Police said the woman tried to fight off the robber as he stole her belongings.

From there, police allege the man got out of the car, walked around to the driver’s side, opened the door, forcibly removed the victim from the car and dragged her onto the pavement. He allegedly got into the driver’s seat and took more of her property, as she again fought him.

Police said the suspect ran away as other people started to approach the car to aid the victim.

Officers searched the area and broadcasted a description of the suspect, police said, and about 10 minutes later found suspect Richard Clinton a short distance away, at Route 111 and Motor Parkway.

Clinton, a 34-year-old whose last known address was in Medford, was arrested and treated at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore “for the effects of narcotic drug use,” police said. He is charged with second-degree robbery, resisting arrest and three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Attorney information for the suspect was not available. According to police, Clinton will be arraigned at a later date.

Man shot in armed gas station robbery

Police are hunting for an armed robbery suspect after a man was shot in the leg in an incident on Monday night.

A male suspect in a mask, who was carrying a gun, allegedly approached a gas pump attendant at the USA station on New York Avenue in Huntington Station that night, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. The assailant demanded cash.

Police said a “confrontation ensued” and the suspect fired a shot that hit the attendant in the leg, after which the robber fled on foot — with the cash.

The victim’s injury was treated at Huntington Hospital.

Detectives from the SCPD’s 2nd Squad are investigating the armed robbery, which occurred a little before 10 p.m., and police said they are searching for a 6-foot black male with a thin build.

Police hunt for Trailer City thief

A 15-foot trailer was stolen from a Commack business in the middle of the night, according to the Suffolk County Police Department, and authorities want help to find out who is responsible.

Police said the $8,000 trailer was snatched from Trailer City on Jericho Turnpike overnight between Nov. 16 and Nov. 17, although it was unclear if one person of multiple perpetrators were to blame. The suspect or suspects are wanted for grand larceny in the theft from the business, located just west of Siracusa Boulevard.

Detectives from the SCPD’s 4th Squad and Suffolk County Crime Stoppers are looking for the public’s help to identify and locate the person or people who committed the crime.

Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call them anonymously at 800-220-TIPS.

Armed robber hits Hauppauge 7-Eleven

A masked man robbed a 7-Eleven in Hauppauge early Monday morning, injuring the clerk on duty.

According to the Suffolk County Police Department, the masked suspect, who was also wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and sunglasses, entered the convenience store on Townline Road shortly before 2 a.m., displayed what appeared to be a gun and demanded cash from the clerk. After the clerk complied, giving him cash from the drawer, the assailant fled on foot, heading west on Townline.

The clerk suffered a minor injury during the holdup, police said. He was treated at Stony Brook University Hospital and released.

Police described the robber as being about 6 feet tall and having a thin build.

Officers search for redhead who robbed bank

Police are looking for a tall redhead who they say robbed the HSBC bank in Port Jefferson Station.

According to the Suffolk County Police Department, the suspect entered the bank, in Jefferson Plaza off of Route 112, on Friday afternoon and gave a teller a note demanding cash.

After the teller complied, police said, the man fled south on foot.

The suspect was described as a white, 6-foot-tall male around 30 years old who was skinny and unshaven and had red hair. Police said he was wearing a white T-shirt and a red baseball cap at the time of the robbery.
