Smithtown East Bulls

After the Ward Melville girls lacrosse team dominated the first half of the game outscoring Smithtown East by eight goals, the Bulls regrouped for the second half and drew within four goals twice before the Patriots dropped the hammer to put the game away, 17-12, at home March 29.

Ward Melville senior Courtney Carollo led the way with four goals and three assists, 10th grader Summer Agostino, followed with three goals and two assists, and senior Lexi Reinhardt had an assist and found the cage four times. Also pictured above center, two Patriots celebrate a score against the Bulls.

Smithtown East senior midfielder Gabrielle Schneider topped the charts for the Bulls with three assists and two goals, sophomore Alayna Costa split the pipes four times, and her older sister Isabella Costa had two assists and two goals.

As of April 1, the win puts the Patriots at 1-1, and the loss drops Smithtown East 2-1 in Division I.

Smithtown varsity boys basketball  claimed their victory over Newfield with a nailbiter at buzzer, 50-46, Jan. 15. 

The Newfield Wolverines stayed within striking distance from the opening tip-off but it was Smithtown East senior Marcin Termena’s performance at the charity stripe that won the game for the Bulls in the final seconds by hitting 4 free throws. Termena topped the scoreboard with 4 field goals, a triple and his free throw performance for 15 points. His teammate senior Devin Butbul finished with a three pointer and 4 field goals for 11 points.

Up next, the Smithtown East Bulls host Deer Park Jan. 19 at noon.

Centereach boys basketball held off the charging Bulls of Smithtown East for a 50-45 victory, notching back-to-back wins on the road Jan. 3.

Matt Robbert had the hot hand for the Cougars, leading his team in scoring with 13 followed by Ryan DeCoursey who netted 11.

Smithtown East senior guard Marcin Termena banked three triples and a pair of field goals for the Bulls, leading the way with 13.

The win propels the Cougars to 2-3 in League III, 3-6 overall.

Ward Melville Patriots boys volleyball team hosted Smithtown East Bulls Nov. 2 in the Suffolk County Division I semifinal bracket and swept their opponents in three sets. The Patriots advanced to the Division I volleyball championship.

Ward Melville (now 2-0) hosted Smithtown East (1-1) for a Division I varsity field hockey game Sept. 7.  The Patriots won the game with a score of 3-0.
