Flushing Bank recently hosted two ribbon-cutting ceremonies at its new Islandia and Shirley locations in Suffolk County. These are two of the four locations resulting from the Bank’s recent acquisition of Empire National Bank.  Members of Flushing Bank’s management team were joined by several state and local elected officials at the event.

Police said a man robbed the TD Bank in Port Jefferson Station Jan. 3. Image from Google Maps

Suffolk County Police are investigating an alleged robbery at a Port Jefferson Station bank that happened Friday evening, Jan. 3.

Police said a man entered TD Bank, located at 86 W. Nesconset Highway at around 6:55 p.m. and demanded cash from an employee. The teller complied with the his demands and gave him cash from the drawer. The suspect fled the bank on foot.

The suspect was described as white. He was wearing a mask and dark clothes.

Police are asking anyone with information on the robbery to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

Suffolk County police arrested a man who allegedly robbed a Rocky Point bank April 17.

Michael O’Brien entered BNB Bank, located at 75 Route 25A, at approximately 3:25 p.m. April 17, allegedly approached a teller and presented a note demanding cash. The teller complied and the robber fled on foot westbound.

Following an investigation, major case unit detectives located and arrested O’Brien on Glenwood Drive in Sound Beach at 11:10 p.m.

O’Brien, 29, of Sound Beach, was charged with third-degree robbery.

He was held overnight at the 6th Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at 1st District Court in Central Islip on April 18.

Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred at Suffolk Federal Credit Union in Commack July 5.

A man entered the bank, located at 6150 Jericho Turnpike, at 1:20 p.m. and demanded cash from a teller. The teller complied and gave the man cash from the drawer. The man fled on foot.

The suspect was described as white, in his late 40s to early 50s, approximately 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 6 inches tall with a thin build and salt and pepper hair. He was wearing a white tank top and blue jeans.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this robbery to call major case at 631-852-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

On April 21, Major Case Unit detectives arrested Raymond Peruggi and Damien Beeker for robbing the Chase Bank on 25A in Miller Place.

A man entered Chase Bank, located at 385 Route 25A, at about 5:25 p.m. April 19 and passed a note demanding cash to an employee. The teller complied with the suspect’s demands and gave him cash from the drawer.

Peruggi, homeless, and Beeker, of Ronkonkoma were also arrested for robbing the TD Bank on Route 112 in Medford on April 18.

In a similar scenario, a man entered the bank, located at 1806 Route 112, at approximately 2:50 p.m., and passed a note demanding cash to an employee.

In both cases, the suspects feld in a Mitsubishi Lancer.

“It’s a somewhat unusual vehicle,” Suffolk County Police Chief of Department Stuart Cameron said during a press conference. “Detectives canvased the area for the vehicle, and that vehicle was located at hotel in Centereach.

The men were charged with two counts of robbery in the 2nd degree.

This version was updated to show two men were arrested for robbing the Chase Bank in Miller Place. The pair were also involved in another robbery one day prior.

Suffolk County Police arrested a man who robbed a bank in East Northport Wednesday night, March 15.

Major Case Unit detectives arrested Nicholas Bono at 9:40 p.m. for robbing the Bank of America, located on Larkfield Road. He demanded money, and the teller complied with the Bono’s demands and gave him cash from the drawer. He then fled the bank on foot.

Bono, 29, of East Northport, was charged with third-degree robery. He will be held at the 2nd Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip March 16.

A man and a woman approached two different tellers at the same time during a bank robbery on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

At the Roslyn Savings Bank on Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station, the pair entered at 1:40 p.m. and each approached a different employee, handing them notes demanding cash, police said. Those tellers complied and the suspects fled on foot with their loot, going north on Longfellow Drive.

Police described both suspects as black, the man between 20 and 25 years old and the woman 30 to 35 years old. The man was 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build, and was wearing a ski hat, a scarf, a gray hoodie and white pants. The woman, who was heavyset, was between 5 feet and 5 feet 3 inches tall, and was wearing a ski hat, a gray hoodie and earmuffs covering the bottom half of her face.

Pattern Crime Unit detectives are investigating the robbery. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS.

An Elwood bank was robbed on Thursday afternoon by a man in a black mask.

The Suffolk County Police Department said the robber entered the Chase Bank in Huntington Square Mall shortly after 2:30 p.m. and verbally announced a robbery. He allegedly went behind the teller counter and took cash from the drawer before fleeing on foot.

Police said the direction he went in was unknown.

The mall is located at Route 25 and Larkfield Road, near Elwood’s border with Commack.

Police described the robber as a 30- to 40-year-old man with a medium build who was about 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall. In addition to the black mask, he was also wearing a gray hooded jacket and jeans at the time of the crime.

Detectives from the SCPD’s Pattern Crime Unit are investigating the robbery.

A Huntington teller did not comply with a robber’s demands, so the suspect tried a different bank.

The Suffolk County Police Department said a man in shorts, a white T-shirt and a red hat made verbal demands for money at the People’s United Bank, on Huntington’s East Main Street, just before noon on Tuesday but fled after the teller did not comply. But he was successful 25 minutes later, when he allegedly showed up at a TD Bank on Deer Park Avenue and once again verbally demanded money from a teller.

Police said the teller gave the man money and he fled south from the Deer Park bank on foot.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man with a gray goatee, between 40 and 45 years old, and 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build.

Police said the same man had robbed a TD Bank in Farmingdale a week earlier, again verbally demanding cash from a teller and fleeing on foot after the teller complied.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential. Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 if information leads to an arrest.

Police nabbed an alleged robber four days after they say he hit the HSBC bank in Port Jefferson Station.

The suspect, 32-year-old Peter Iatauro, was charged with third-degree robbery and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Tuesday. According to the Suffolk County Police Department, the Medford resident was found in possession of heroin.

Attorney information for Iatauro was not immediately available. He was scheduled for arraignment Wednesday.

Shortly after the robbery on July 10, police said they were on the hunt for a tall redhead who entered the HSBC, in Jefferson Plaza off of Route 112, and gave a teller a note demanding cash. Police said after the teller complied, the man fled south on foot.

At the time, police described the suspect as a white, 6-foot-tall male around 30 years old who was skinny and unshaven and had red hair. Police said he was wearing a white T-shirt and a red baseball cap at the time of the robbery.

Detectives from both the SCPD’s Pattern Crime Unit and its 6th Precinct Special Operations Team worked together to charge the suspect on Tuesday.
